"How's it feel?" Yixing murmured, so close that even at a whisper, you could clearly hear him. His fingers had folded themselves between your own, but one hand separated to brush at your forehead, his thumb ever so lightly grazing the purple bruise surrounding your swollen eye. It had swollen to the point where you couldn't keep your eyelid completely open, and it still ached.
"It's fine. Don't worry," you whispered, pulling his hand back down to your side, lacing your fingers back together.
"Are you sure?" Yixing insisted, taking a step closer, his eyebrows furrowed in concern.
"Yep," you assured in a bright voice.
"Hey! You have two nights including tonight to finish and perfect your dance, so I suggest you stop being flirty and actually do something."
"Yes, Captain!" Yixing responded playfully to Baekhyun. "We will get right to work. Come on, Jinnie. Today, I think it's best if I we focus on that spin, okay?"
You groaned, less than ethusiastic to subject yourself to practicing the one move you just couldn't pull off.
"Listen, I'm here to help you. I promise not to let you fall too badly, either. Let's try it slowly."
You softened up at Yixing's words encouraging you and hands settling on your hips.
"Here, try it. I'll help you keep your balance."
His hands loosened as you went for it, pushing off with one foot. It went same as always, your coordination flying out the window as the world spun, your feet tripping over each other. Yixing's hands slipped to hold your arms as you stumbled, trying to keep you from falling flat on your face.
"Careful, Jinnie."
You sighed, defeated even after one failed attempt, "I can't do it, Yixing."
"Don't say that. You can do it. I know you can. Come on, one more try."
Yixing's hands worked to steady you more and more with each attempt, and with his assistance, you were beginning to pull off the spin a little more steadily. Despite the discouraging failed attempts you had run through to many times before, you were beginning to feel your self-confidence and flow improve. However, you weren't sure how well you were going to be able to do it without the help of Yixing's touch.
"You're getting much better, Yejin."
Your heart soared at the comment Baekhyun offered, his arms crossed as he carefully watched you two. You shot him a grateful smile, and in the next try, even though Yixing helped you along with your balance, you pushed off with one foot, twirling easily, and landing securely on both your feet.
Instantly, Yixing's arms wrapped around you, picking you up in tight embrace, his gleeful laughter rumbling in his chest, "You did it, Jinnie! You did it! I knew you could. Good job, kitten." He spun you around, and you squealed in your own laughter, holding tightly onto him. Your heart beat erratically in your chest, and you clutched tightly at Yixing's tank top even as he set you back down on your feet. He grinned at you, and you blushed at his excitement.
"Come on, come on, let's try it in the dance! Baekhyun, put on the music, will you?"
"Yeah, yeah, use the third wheel as your slave," Baekhyun grumbled.
You had been through the routine so many times you knew every move down to the position of yours fingers and the swing of your hips. You began to feel what Yixing exuded when he danced; the same control the music seemed to have over him was now overtaking you, every beat matching up with another fluid movement of your body. Yixing pulled you into the same embrace as always, and you pushed away. He quickly caught you again, tucking you into his arms. You in a breathe. The moment had finally come. You pushed away, spinning under Yixing's arm so smoothly, you heard Baekhyun in a breathe in a sharp gasp, even over the loud music. You didn't know the choreography beyond that point, but Yixing smoothly stepped up to you, his hand taking a fistful of your hair and pulling your head back. Your neck arched and vulnerable, Yixing leaned over you and his free hand slid down your side, your skin burning at his touch. His warm breath washed over your neck, and he whispered, "Just follow my lead."
