The Girl Amongst the Flowers

The flowers always looked much prettier in the sun,
Their vermilion and violaceous velvetine petals
Took her away from everyone;
She wandered closer.

Shadowed verdant grass smelt as though it had been freshly mowed,
Perfumed warm air that blanketed her body
And a crisp, fresh breeze made it an appealing abode;
She wandered closer.

Civilisation at her fingers, the world at her feet,
Choices of life, love and experience
Yet she drifted away from the concrete;
She wandered closer.

Strands of the lea brushed the hem of her dress,
A smile as she dreamed of the land beyond
A crown of flowers deemed her as Queen and nothing less;
She wandered far away.

Exam week is making me crazy...I only have four more to go so hopefully I won't procrastinate by writing poetry for much longer. My English teacher would be proud of my poetry skills though (since I complain about analysing too many poems).
