We got back to the house. The two men still had hold of me and a third snapped chains around my wrists and thicker chains with padlocks around my ankles. I sighed. How had I got myself in this position. I was given a cup of water which I took a gulp of thirstily. Then Grimaud himself entered.
"Whatever you asked of the Queen, she won't give it to you," I said truthfully. His face became more angry with each passing moment that I was defying him. I was a Musketeer. What did he expect?
"Your friends are already on thier way," he replied. They were?
"Then we're both dead," I said back. They would have to kill me out of duty to kill Grimaud, but dying for the cause was what a Musketeer had to do. And I was willing to give up my life if it ensured the downfall of Grimaud. He snatched the cup from my hand even though I wasn't finished and grunted at his men. They lifted my arms above my head before grabbing my waist and hoisting me onto the wooden beam again.
