".  . . What. . . .?"

For once, Sans' permanent smile dropped. What did Undyne just say? That Papyrus thinks Sans is a burden? That's not true, right? I can't be true. There's no way. 'Papyrus loves me. Right?'

"Papyrus." Sans tone was different when he called his brothers name. It had anger written all over it.

"Y-YES BROTHER?"

'Oh Papyrus was stuttering.' Sans thought. 'He's hiding something.'

"That's not true. . . right?"

"OF COURSE BROTHER! ITS NOT TRUE! WOULD YOU LIKE TO TRY MY NEW SPAGHETTI RECIPE?" Papyrys said, looking anywhere but Sans' eyes, smiled and turned away to get it from the fridge.

"Papyrus. Look me in the eye and tell me it's not true."

This is what everyone was afraid of. This side of Sans. They saw this side of him whenever they were around (Y/n). His eyes would disappear and stare at them whenever they weren't looking. Last week he even raised his voice at everyone, basically screaming. And when (Y/n) came to talk to Sans the next day, Sans just shoved them away. Of course everyone basically forgot about it, except Toriel and Papyrus. They were worried, and Sans wouldn't open up to them.

Papyrus looked at Sans to see anger and confusion in his eyes. His brother just went his normal pun telling, to a look that told Papyrus Sans almost hated him. He had never seen Sans this mad before. And Sans has never been mad at Papyrus.

The tension grew as Papyrus stared at Sans. Everyone else was watching, on the edge of their seats.

"Well. . . ?"

"IT'S.... IT'S NOT....IT'S NOT TR......"

Papyrus couldn't even speak properly. Sans knew Papyrus would never lie to him, so this was a test.

Papyrus broke eye contact. He stared at the floor, tears filling his eye sockets. Papyrus spoke, but it was barely more than a whisper.

"I'm sorry. . . Sans."

Sans stood there, his eye sockets black and he was frowning. Then Sans looked to Undyne, his smile growing back. Except this time, it looked more sinister than happy. It even scared Undyne. Sans stared at her for a few seconds, then looked to (Y/n). His smile grew bigger. (Y/n) didn't know what to do. They thought he was happy now. After all, they weren't resetting anymore. But right now (Y/n) could see that he wasn't happy. He was waiting 'till the next reset.

He shut his eyes, and when he opened them again, the left eye was shinning a brilliant bright blue.

"You should've just shut your mouth, Undyne."

Both Sans and Undyne's SOULS came out. Everyone gasped at Sans' SOUL. It was a bright blue, but it was covered in scars, and was turning slightly black. Undyne's body and SOUL became blue, and she dropped to the ground as a hail of bones came flying at her in all directions. Unable to avoid them, especially like this, Undyne gritted her teeth an endured each and every hit. Everyone went to cover from the bones flying everywhere.

"Why are you attacking! Fool! You think you can defeat me!"

Undyne got to her feet, raising a spear. Undyne sent a barrage of spears, Sans simply avoiding them all in one quick movement. Everyone gasped at this. Except (Y/n). (Y/n) knew Sans would dodge them.

Everything was quiet as the two strongest monsters in the Underground fought. Sans didn't bother to say anything during this fight. He just stood there, raising his hand and sending Undyne into the air where she was pelted with more bones and blasted by 4 Gaster Blasters before falling back to the floor and landing on a bed of sharpened bones.

Undyne gritted her teeth. "You wanna see my strongest attack!?" Undyne raised her spear, and Sans prepared to dodge, only to find out he couldn't move. Undyne swung her spear, aiming for Sans' head, but Sans teleported behind her impairing her with multiple bones. Undyne didn't notice it, but Sans was starting to sweat, the battle taking a toll on him. After ten full turns, Sans held up his hands. He still didn't say anything though. Everyone came out from their hiding spots to look at them. Nearly the whole house was in shambles.

Undyne was surprised by this, but Sans had his wepons lowered down, and his hand out to shake Undyne's. She stepped forward, reaching out and shaking Sans' hand. "Good fight by the way. Oh, and one thing. What's that?" Undyne pointed to his hand, which had a sharp bone in it. Sans grinned.

He raised his arm over his head, aiming to stab Undyne in the head. Undyne was quicker though. She dodged to the side, quickly summoning a spear from behind Sans.

"SANS! LOOK OUT!" (Y/n) screamed. She knew that Sans only had 1 HP.

Sans turned around only to find the spear impaired in his SOUL. Undyne dropped her wepon to look at Sans' HP bar. 'Oh shit. One HP?'

Sans turned around to look at Undyne and everyone else. He was smiling still. He looked at Undyne and laughed at her.

"Get. . Dunked. . . On. . . ." Sans said before he turned to dust, his SOUL floating over his remains. Papyrus fell to his knees and started bawling his eyes out. Toriel ran to her husband, both staring at Sans' dust. Undyne took at step back, still trying to process what just happened. And Alphys was staring at (Y/n). (Y/n) looked at Alphys' expression that read, wait for it. (Y/n) was confused at what this meant, and went back to staring at Sans' SOUL.

They waited for it to shatter.

They waited

And waited.

And waited.

It didn't shatter. Everyone stared at it, and waited. By now, it should've disappeared.

. . . . .

20 minutes passed. It still hasn't shattered. (Y/n) walked up to it, only to see the heart mend itself back together, and to hear someone's voice.

"But it REFUSED."

Sooooo close to 1000 words!!!! Wow Sans is strong! Anyways continue in Chapter 3.
