Did you know that the Katipunan had a revolutionary song? It's an old KKK ballad, different from their National Anthem, played during fiesta or military gathering. But mostly it was used when the Katipuneros were victorious in a battlefield and they had sang it proudly in air.

One of this example was the liberation of Tondo, Manila against the Spaniards. Won victoriously by del Pilar Brigade (Gen. Gregorio del Pilar) from Bulacan. It was in July of 1898. Their first target was the Spanish position in Bahay Kalapati in Caloocan. After a brief battle, the Spanish can't resisted the advance of del Pilar companies.

There were more than 2,000 fully armed men of the del Pilar Brigade that marched the streets of Tondo, where Katipunan was born, with around 50 officers on horseback with the youthful general proudly leading his troops. In Pritil after a minor skirmish, a band joined the marchers and played the Revolutionary air for victory parade (with Andres Bonifacio and Deodato Arellano to their heroism) while the soldiers sang:

Alerta Katipunan,
Sa bundok ang tahanan,
Doon mararanasan
Ang hirap ng katawan.
Walang unan, walang kumot,
Walang banig sa pagtulog,
Inuunan pa ay gulok!
Abansing katakut-takot!

ALERTA Katipunan,
Bathin ang kahirapan,
Pag-ibayuhin ang tapang,
Kahit mamatay sa laban!
Layon nati'y itaguyod,
Baya'y tubusin at itampok,
Hayo na tayo't makihamok
Abansing katakut-katakot!
