He left. Period. You don't ask him the reason why. He left because he wants to, that's all. If he truly loves you, only the thought of losing you must've killed him already. But no. He chose to leave you, and lose you, rather than hold you, and love you.
And one thing's for sure. He doesn't deserve you.
