Chapter 23

*Dani's P.O.V.*

Today was the day. We were going to the carnival! Everyone was packing into the big orange van, everyone being, the five boys, Derek, Haley, Michelle, Sydney, and yours truly. That made ten people in total, so Liam was driving with Sydney in the passenger seat, Zayn was in between Derek and Michelle (which I was praying wasn't awkward) and then there was Haley, Niall, Louis, Harry, and me in the back, where there were no seats. We had all claimed these positions, and if I'm honest I'm kind of surprised Daddy Direction trusted the five of us to not tip the van over. Liam had said the drive would be about an hour, hour and a half depending on traffic and such. This was going to be a very fun car ride.

After about an hour of blasting music, fooling around, being idiots, perverted jokes (mostly made by Harry and me), and even a few kisses, we finally pulled up into a giant dirt parking lot. I looked out the window with a giant smile plastered on my face at the rows and rows of cars that were parked there. I spotted the entrance a ways away, but I knew it would be worth the few minutes it would take to walk from the car. I stretched out my legs as I hopped out of the giant orange van and took Harry's hand. Then I took Derek's in my other hand.

"Derk, will you be my rollercoaster buddy?" I asked, aware of Harry's fear of rollercoasters. He smiled at my name for him and agreed.

"Hey Niall, want to be my riding buddy?" Louis screamed, taking the hand that Haley wasn't holding.

"I'd be honored, Tommo!" I heard Niall reply from behind me. Then Haley grabbed Harry's empty hand with hers, and the six of us were forming one huge chain. Liam and Sydney were being all coupley and holding hands, as were Zayn and Michelle, but they caught on quickly enough. Sydney held Louis' hand and Zayn took Derek's. They smiled at each other, so I guess they were back to bffls now. Whoop whoop! All the awkwardness was gone! Hooray! Now things were going perfectly, and we cheerily strode through the gates in one huge line of ten. We were like a fucking soap opera, but I didn't even care. It was so crowded; I wouldn't be surprised if the boys were barely noticed. Sure, there would be a few paparazzi and fans, but nothing major that would ruin our day.

Naturally, my eye was caught automatically by the tallest coaster in the whole place. "I'll see you guys later, okay?" I said, kissing Harry on the cheek before releasing his hand. He kissed me on the lips quickly and I blushed, glad there were no camera clicks. I hopped on Derek's back and pointed to my destination. As if he didn't already know where I wanted to go. Zayn and Michelle were starting with something easier, but Louis, Niall, Liam, and Sydney were joining us. I didn't know Sydney very well, but I wanted that to change. "You like rollercoasters?" I asked her, receiving a smile from her in return. Wow, she was pretty. Why was everyone so much prettier than me?

"I love them," she replied. "The bigger the better!" she chirped. It was kind of funny, because looking at her she seemed like a delicate little flower who would cower under the giant steel machines, so hearing those words come out of her mouth was a bit comical.

"That's what I always say!" I responded as we approached the long line. Great, I thought, my mental voice bitter with sarcasm. I hate lines. Oh well.

*Haley's P.O.V.*

"Let's go, let's go, let's go!" I cheered, tugging Harry towards the spinny rides. There was truly nothing I loved more. Spinny rides are the best rides! Harry scampered along with me, keeping up as best he could. "Ooh, let's go on this one!" I exclaimed, skipping to the end of the line for a ride that spun and went up and down.

"Okay," Harry agreed with a chuckle. Honestly, I wasn't really giving him much of a choice, but oh well. Then I heard the whispers of teenage girls, maybe two or three years younger than myself.

"Oh my god, is that Harry Styles? Or am I insane? He looks just like him!" I smiled and tapped Harry's shoulder, gesturing to the two girls behind us. One was wearing One Direction rubber bracelets and the other was wearing a One Direction concert tee shirt. He turned around and smiled at them. The expressions on their faces were absolutely priceless. They looked as though they were standing in front of fucking God!

"Afternoon, ladies," he greeted them politely. Aw, my cousin is so nice to his fans. They looked so starstruck and speechless; I was almost wondering if they were breathing. Then the one of them wearing the concert shirt spoke up.

"I-I love you," she stuttered in disbelief. It was actually kind of cute, witnessing how loved he really was.

"I love you too!" he smiled back. I knew he was just being polite, and probably telling the truth as the boys adored their fans, but seriously he was going to make the poor girl pass out.

"Can we please get a picture with you?" the other one, the one with the bracelets, asked timidly. It actually warmed my heart to see how much Harry actually meant to these girls. They didn't even know him, yet I knew this moment was probably making like their whole fricken lives.

"Of course!" he agreed with his million dollar smile.

"I'll take it," I offered, taking Bracelet's phone as Harry stood in between them and draped his arms around their shoulders. They all smiled as I snapped the picture, and I handed the girl her phone back.

"Thank you so much," she said to both of us.

"No problem," Harry and I smiled in unison. We laughed at each other, probably sparking up their curiosity.

"Are you two dating?" Concert Shirt asked. I made a face and Harry chuckled.

"No, this is my cousin," he explained. She blushed and smiled.

"Oh. Well thanks again! I love you, you make me feel beautiful for three minutes and twenty seconds," she said. Harry smiled.

"You should feel beautiful 24/7," he replied, making even me smile along with the girls as they thanked us again and scampered away, screaming when they thought we were out of ear-shot. "You would've liked to be my girlfriend ten years ago," Harry smiled cheekily, reminding me of the crush I had on him for a VERY SHORT period of time. I glared at him.

"You're dead to me," I growled, half playfully. He just smirked at me.

"I wonder what Niall would think of your little crush on me..." he taunted, ignoring my threat. My eyes widened at the thought of Niall knowing I liked Harry, even for a VERY SHORT period of time.

"That's not even funny," I replied as the line moved forward and we eventually got through the gate to the ride.

"I thought it was pretty funny," he smiled as we got into the rocket-like seat. I just stuck my tongue out at him as we pulled down the bar and the ride attendant secured us in. I smiled in extreme excitement as the ride started up, forgetting our little banter as we started soaring.

When I'm on rides like these, I can't stop laughing. But not just normal laughing, laughing like my crazy, insane laugh. Harry was chuckling too, but I'm pretty sure he was just mocking me. I didn't care though. I was too busy feeling like I was flying and loving it as the wind made my brown curls fly behind me. Besides kissing Niall, there was truly no better feeling than this.

*Zayn's P.O.V.*

"Are you scared?" I teased, gently flicking Michelle's cute little nose. She loved it when I did that, for reasons I didn't quite know. But I wanted to calm her nerves, as she was shaking like a leaf.

"No," she answered, obviously lying as she gazed up at the steep incline in horror. I chuckled a bit. Her gorgeous blue eyes that swam with all different shades, like a crystal spring in the sunlight, widened even larger than usual. Her silky, straight hair that was the color of sunlight was pulled back in a high pony tail and her perfect pink lips were partly slightly, looking so irresistibly kissable. She always reminded me of the beach, with her eyes like the ocean, hair like the sun, and skin like the light sand. She was so incredible. She turned to me and I smiled into those blue eyes that I had been lost in since seventh grade.

Michelle had moved to my school when we were about thirteen, and she was my first love. I was kind of shy, and too quiet to actually admit my feelings for her, so I left her little love notes in her locker, you know chocolate and roses, the whole secret admirer thing. That started about the third week of October. On Valentine's Day, I decided to reveal myself and ask her out. She agreed, and we went out for a whole year (Which is a long time for thirteen year olds.) But then her parents broke the news that they were moving. Two weeks before the move. Those two weeks had been the two most bittersweet weeks of my entire life.

When I saw her in a little café a few weeks before Haley moved in, I could hardly believe my eyes. We talked for a long time and I had finally asked her out a few days ago.

"If I die, I want you to know I love you," she said adorably, breaking me from my thoughts. I like thinking. I smiled and planted a tender kiss upon her soft, sweet tasting lips.

"Dead or alive, I want you to know I love you," I replied truthfully, gazing dreamily into her beautiful eyes. How did I ever get so lucky? The ride started moving and she let out a small whimper, squeezing my hand for dear life. I chuckled a bit, loving her company.

*Liam's P.O.V.*

"Where to next?" Sydney asked eagerly as we exited the ride. I chuckled a bit, still trying to get my legs to work properly. Her gorgeous strawberry blonde waves were still blown back from the wind of the ride, and the excited grin on her face was absolutely precious.

"How about that one?" Dani suggested, pointing to a giant yellow contraption with tons of loops and spirals. I must admit, it was a tiny bit intimidating.

"Ooh, yes!" Sydney squealed. She grabbed my hand and dragged me along as she skipped excitedly. I chuckled again, keeping up with her. I loved seeing her so happy. Heck, I just loved seeing her. Her meadow green eyes sparkled with excitement as she smiled over her shoulder at me. I loved her so much, and she reminded me just how much at the most random times in the simplest ways. Just flipping her hair as she turned her head and flashing me her radiant smile made my knees go weak. The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed...

*Niall's P.O.V.*

As we approached the monster that Dani had suggested we ride, I must say it was a bit nerve-wracking. But I was up for the challenge, even if it was a little scary. "Don't worry Nialler; I'll hold your hand!" Louis chirped, sensing my slight nervousness. I smirked and clasped his hand, mimicking Sydney and Liam as I skipped along with her and Dani, lugging Louis behind me. I loved Lou, but you can't blame me for wishing it was Haley's hand I was holding, especially when Liam and Sydney were being all cute. Oh well, I had promised her a ferris wheel ride at the end of the night, which I was very much looking forward to.

*Haley's P.O.V.*

By nightfall, Harry and I had hit every spinny ride at least twice, and I was stuffed completely full of cotton candy and funnel cake. The moon was out now, and everything was illuminated in brilliant colors. It was awesome. I anxiously awaited the ferris wheel ride that Niall had promised me, eagerly dragging Harry behind me as I headed towards the giant circle. I saw a familiar blonde figure standing next to the ride in a purple sweatshirt. I smiled and shooed Harry away, spotting Liam, Sydney, and Louis not too far away in the other direction. I smiled and approached him from behind. I tapped him on the shoulder, my breath catching in my throat as he turned to face me. The lights of the fair made his eyes glow as he smiled at me and took my hands in his.

"You look cold," he said, unzipping his sweatshirt. "And it's going to be a lot colder up there." He nodded to the top of the ferris wheel, and I knew he was right. It was always windy and cold at the top of ferris wheels. He stripped it off, leaving him in just a dark red tank top as he slid it onto my body. Damn, he looked sexy...

"But now you'll be cold," I whined, beginning to take off the sweatshirt so I could give it back. He stopped me and zipped it up, enveloping me in soft, luxurious warmth. As he did that, his face got very close to mine. The hand that was holding the bottom of the zipper slid onto my hips and the one at the top gently caressed my face as he took my breath away yet again with his sweet, tender kiss. It didn't last very long though, not wanting to risk being caught by the paparazzi and such. We both smiled at each other as we pulled apart and he entwined his fingers in mine, leading me to the line for the ride. It thankfully wasn't that long, and we climbed into a cart within a few minutes.

"Are you excited?" he asked, an adorable smile playing across his perfect lips.

"Yes," I smiled in response, leaning slightly into his side as he draped his arm around my shoulder. "Just don't rock the seat. If you do, you die," I warned, completely serious. If the seat even sways I start flipping out. Mentally and verbally of course, flipping out physically would just make it worse. He chuckled, but didn't move like most guys would just to torture me.

"Okay, I won't," he promised. I kissed his cheek in thanks as we started rising backwards. As more people got on, we stopped at the tippy top. It was incredible. The lights shone all sorts of beautiful colors, and we had a view of the entire carnival.

"I bet I can see Louis' stripes from here," I joked, looking down in amazement.

"You're all I can see," he replied. Sure it was cheesy, but this whole scene was cheesy. And what can I say; I'm a sucker for cheesy romance. I smiled and turned to him, and man, he looked gorgeous. His blue eyes were shining brighter than the fluorescent lights on the rides, and his smile made my heart flip like always.

"I love you," I whispered as we leaned in. It was the classic, movie-scene top-of-the-ferris-wheel kiss, and it was perfect. The bombs went off again and, as if on cue, actual fireworks lit up the sky as they boomed and sizzled to the ground. I giggled, parting my lips from his and looked up at the marvelous colors in awe.

"I love you too," he whispered, kissing my ear. I sighed, enjoying my fairytale moment while it lasted. God only knows when this feeling could be revoked.

When the ride was over, we met up with everybody at the entrance. Louis was standing there with a giant teddy bear in hands, smiling at me. "It seems Nialler forgot to give this to you," he said, handing it over. I took and squeezed it tight to my body, turning and smiling at Niall. He returned it adorably.

"It wouldn't have fit in the ferris wheel cart," he explained. I smiled and planted another quick kiss on his lips as we started walking toward the parking lot. He put his arm around me as I hugged my wonderful present. I crawled in the back with Niall, Louis, Harry, Dani, and Ted. (Yes, I named the bear Ted.) Niall lounged with his legs out and I rested my head in his lap, still clutching Ted, and closed my eyes.

"Shall we celebrate a wonderful day with a few drinks?" Harry suggested. There were many cheers of agreement, the loudest from Niall. Oh, my little Irish boy... I opened my eyes and looked questioningly at my cousin.

"Even in this country, Dani and I are under age," I reminded him.

"So? You two can still have fun! You'll stay sober with Liam!" he chirped. Dani nodded at me eagerly, and I agreed. Well this should be an interesting night...
