"Hush little child!"
Mummy whispers at her little one.
"Mummy I'm scared, don't you hear them".
The child cries louder, tears leek out.
The mother soothes her child with soundless words that don't have a meaning begin the words.
"It's okay honey the monsters under your bed have retired now you can sleep".
Again the child cries out,
"Mummy but what about the monsters that peek out of my closet?"
The mother answers with love behind her voice.
"Little one don't fear them they like your closet because they play with your toys".
Tears dry on the child's face and the mother gets up and turns on the little ones night light.
She turns and leaves,
The child says with a whimper and chokes on the new tears that flow down the pale face.
"Mummy aren't the monsters in my head still there they aren't admiring my toys and there not retired there not leaving are they?"
The mother turns with a tear about to fall but doesn't
"honey we all have our monsters but our monsters make us better as people".
