19. The Rings

Nikki

"Vince, sit still." I hear Tori hiss from within the tour bus.

I walk onto the rider to see my girlfriend sitting on the arm of the couch with Vince in front of her. My girlfriend is French braiding my lead singer's hair. Tori is chewing on her bottom lip while she's concentrating, she looks hot when she does that.

"Ow, ow!" Vince mutters and Tori's eyes grow.

"Okay I think I see the problem now." Tori admits. "Pull the ring off my finger." She says and holds her hand over his shoulder.

"Okay, okay sure." He agrees and takes her ring off.

Tori goes back to braiding Vince's hair and chewing on her bottom lip. I smile and walk over to her, I don't think she even noticed I walked in Tori might have a bit of tunnel vision. I lift her chin with my finger and press her lips to mine, Tori starts kissing me back and I smile against her mouth.

Then I remember Vince.

"W-what the hell?" He asks and Tori's mouth stops moving.

"You're not one of the ones that know, are you?" Tori asks and Vince looks back with half braided hair.

"Knows what?" The singer asks.

"No it's you, me, Jess, and Mia." I remind her.

"Knows what?" Vince asks again.

"Uh, well." Tori starts. "Nikki and I have kinda been--"

"I'm not stupid, Tor." Vince laughs. "Your brother is a whole other story."

"You can't tell him!" She nearly yells which causes Vince to laugh.

"Not going to." He promises. "Just because Tommy and the others didn't see how you guys look at each other doesn't mean that I don't. I see the smiles and the winks, you guys are cute."

Tori smiles and hugs Vince from behind, from what Vince says they were close before the twins moved away. I guess they all went to the same high school Tommy, Jess, Tori, and Vince.

"Thank you." She thanks the singer before going back to braiding his hair.

"You haven't said anything in a while, Nik." Vince comments.

"I was worried there for a second, I was worried that you were going to tell Tommy." I admit.

"So what? When you guys stopped fighting with each other you started fucking?" The singer wonders as I drop down on the couch beside him.

"Not exactly, it's the reason we were fighting." I admit. "This has been going on since the end of April, Dom and Leo's party actually." I explains and Tori smiles as she braids his hair.

Before Vince could answer the rider door opens again and in walks Tommy, Mick, and Jess. We instantly have to drop this conversation and they notice that they walked into an awkward silence.

The six of us sat in silence for a few minutes, Jess, Tommy, and Mick knowing that we stopped talking as soon as they got on the rider. I know that Tommy and Mick are studying Vince, Tommy, and I but I keep my focus on braiding Vince's hair.

"So what's up with these rings anyways?" Vince wonders and holds up his baby finger where my ring is. "All four of you girls have one. Is it some kind of weird, girlie, friendship thing?"

"We bought them after we won the collegiate championship for rugby in March." Jess explains. "We didn't like the design of the rings the school board was going to give us so the whole team bought these ones with the purple diamond for the school colour."

"We wear them on the middle finger of our dominant hand." I add. "So Jess on her right and Thea, Mia, and I on our left."

"But why your middle finger and not your ring finger?" Tommy questions and Thea and Mia get on the bus.

"So we look pretty when we flip people off." Thea laughs and sits at the table beside Jess.

"Well Tori's ring broke Dom's nose the first time they met." Mia adds with a laugh.

"How?" Mick asks me and I shrug.

"I punched him in the face." I say but I thought it was obvious.

"I think the better question is why?" Nikki clarifies.

"Oh, he made a pass at me." I admit. "The diamond cut his face open quite nicely." I add and my boyfriend laughs.

"Where are we heading now?" Mia asks. "I can't remember."

"Home." Jess says without looking up from the cards she's shuffling.

"We're not going back to LA yet." Vince speaks up.

"And we don't hit Alabama until next week." Thea adds and I roll my eyes.

"Think about it, blondes. Where have the four of us called home for the past few years?" I wonder and Mia lights up.

"Oh! Home!" She squeaks but her twin still looks confused. "New York, Thea."

"Oh!" Thea catches on.

"I swear, Thea, you give new meaning to the term dumb blonde." My twin laughs and I smile.

"Tori, I graduated NYU with honours!" Thea snaps.

"Yeah, sweetie. I didn't say shit about you being dumb. Jess did." I state and her eyes grow.

"No, I'm not falling for this again." She states and moves Jess' hair looking my Sagittarius tattoo. "Huh." Thea mumbles. "Sorry T-Bone, that's just something you'd say and not Jess."

"My fucking nickname." Tommy mumbles and I laugh. "Speaking of which, Vince why the hell is she braiding your hair?"

"Well, um, I'm not entirely sure." Vince admits. "Tori got on the bus and then told me to sit still. Then this happened."

"It's a good look for you, Vin." Nikki laughs as I wrap a hair tie around the end of his hair.

"You should do the concert like this." I tell him with a laugh as I get off the arm of the couch.

"Yeah, then Dom and Leo will really think I'm gay." He laughs.

"If we're going to New York next that means we'll see Dom and Leo!" Mia realizes. "They have some sort of 'business' they have to take care of before they go and visit our folks." She throws air quotations around the word business.

"So yeah, they'll definitely think I'm gay." Vince laughs again.
