40. Cassio

I lean on the bar and wait for my drink to come.

The bar is loud and busy but I can feel my brother and my boyfriend watching me across the bar. I don't understand what the big deal is, I'm less than a hundred feet away from them. Maybe it's because Dean Cassio, Michael Di Marco, and Trent Hartley are here.

I could careless about Dean and Michael, they're just names of people I used to be friends with. Trent is my real issue and I don't even have a personal problem with him. I don't want him anywhere near my family, he hurt my sister and my brother wants to kill him.

"Well would you look at this Mikey?" A familiar voice asks and another laughs.

"I'd about say we found ourselves a wild rock star in her native habitat." Another voice says and Dean and Michael sit down beside me. "Hi Tori." Michael smiles.

"Hi guys." I laugh.

"Little tiny Tori is a big bad rock star?" Dean asks with a laugh.

"That's me." I laugh. "What about you guys?" I wonder.

"Oh we play for New England." Michael states and I frown.

"I am so sorry." I say and they look at each other.

"We're playing pro ball?" Dean asks a little confused.

"Oh, I know but they're still nothing compared to the Bears." I state and they laugh.

"You still love those Bears, huh?" He asks.

"I'm a creature of habit." I admit.

"Okay, Jess, Tommy?" I ask and they look up. "Y'know on a scale of not at all to I should hit him with my car, how angry should I be about that?" I point and they follow my gaze.

Tommy and Jess look back, as well as everyone else, they see Tori talking with Dean and who I assume is Michael Di Marco. She's laughing and talking with them, I really don't know how exactly I should feel. I mean I want to beat Dean until he stops moving but maybe that might just be me.

"I don't know." Tommy admits. "I mean Tori and Dean were really close."

"That's reassuring." I mutter and he laughs.

"That's not what I meant, they've been friends since they were kids." He explains. "Then they started--"

"Fucking." Vince continues and Tommy makes a face.

"I guess so." The drummer mumbles.

"Well Nik, do you want me to be honest?" Jess asks and I nod. "Be worried about Dean, not because Tori would be interested in him but because Dean may be interested in her still."

"Jess--" Tommy starts.

"He wanted me to be honest and I'm being honest." Jess states. "Dean and Tori never had a big break up or anything, we just left and they--"

"They did break up through, right?" I ask and she nods.

"Yeah they broke up but it was civil and I don't know." She shrugs. "Just keep and eye on it."

"Yeah, yeah." I agree. "Thanks."

I love seeing Tori happy and all but not with him and definitely not with his friend. I want to make her smile and laugh like that, I do make her smile and laugh like that but I don't like watching somebody else do that---urgh!

"Nik, you're making those killing faces." Mick laughs. "Dude, if it's bugging you that much than go over there. I mean you're her boyfriend after all."
