Prologue
Virtue is a veil, vice is a mask.
- Victor Hugo
Everybody wears a mask. Everyone pretends to be somebody they're not. Everyone is a lie and no one is true. Everyone, everyone. Everyone.
I've had the thickest mask in the world. My face was covered with lies, with pretentions, with endless efforts to cover up the cracks in my face. No one will love me for who I am. No one will accept the true me. No one will stay with me because I am flawed. No one will accept me. I am a huge monster beneath this beautiful mask.
I have worn this mask for so long that I already forgot who I am. All I know is that I am unlovable. I am a beast. I am a monster. I am a wreck. I am flawed. I am broken.
Nothing can fix me. Not even love. No matter how powerful love is, it is not powerful enough to make the people around me see the broken girl beneath this beautiful mask.
I would rather wear this horrific mask forever than to fall in love. For love is just nothing but a childish dream.
