Portugal listened diligently to England ranting about his problems. He had heard it all; wanting long hair, hating France and his big brother, and wanting to play with other kids. He smiled and gave England responses every now and then but he mostly dozed off, enjoying his friends company more than his words.

"Amigo," Portugal interrupted, putting his tea cup that England had given him down onto it's saucer. England instantly stopped his rambling and gave Portugal his full attention as Portugal knew he would being the gentlemanly boy he was. "Amigo, can we connect our countries?" Portugal asked.

England looked taken back which caused Portugal to wince thinking he'd said something wrong or upset England and as he went to say that what he had said was a joke or he wasn't serious England responded with enthusiasm.

"Really?" Portugal asked with the brightest grin imaginable. England affirmed his response and Portugal flung himself across the table at England, engulfing him into a hug. England chuckled, ignoring his spilled tea.

"A railroad," England said.

"Railroad?" Portugal repeated confused.

"Yes!" England chimed.

The two danced around one another and threw a small party, only inviting England's magical friends, Wales, and the Irelands. They purposefully excluded Scotland from their small party because neither of them got along with him very well.

The next day the two made detailed plans for a railroad but their bosses shut their idea down quickly and slammed them with the truth of the cost and unnessity of a railroad.

When they left their boss's parlor England grabbed a depressed Portugal's hand and when Portugal looked at her, confused, England smiled "We can build a railroad from your heart to mine." England said.

Portugal's grin returned, "We already have," Portugal replied and hugged England around the neck, England hugged Portugal around his middle.

"Yeah, we have."
