(prepare yourself bc this chapter is gonna be hella cliche)

maya woke up to the sound of thunder booming throughout lucas's house.

she jumped at the sound, but was pulled back down by a pair of quite toned arms.

wait.

what?

she felt soft breaths fanning her neck, and there was a hard chest pressed up against her back.

the blonde slowly turned around in the arms to come face to face with a sleeping lucas.

his mouth was barely open, just the slightest bit of drool escaping his lips. maya held back a giggle at the sight, then noticing his messy hair. it was quite a bit longer in person than she had expected, but it looked good on him nonetheless.

boom!

the thunder crashed, making maya jump again. she had to resist the urge to clutch onto lucas's chest like her life depended on it.

then, his eyes fluttered open.

lucas stared at maya, who had yet to notice that he had woken up, and almost immediately spotted her terrified expression. his eyebrows furrowed in confusion as to why she would be so scared.

boom!

thunder shook the house once again, and the blonde jumped yet again at the sound.

oh.

"maya?" he questioned her, his morning voice shining through. her head whipped around to come face to face with a concerned lucas. "are you alright?"

"yeah, yeah," she mumbled, "i'm fine."

"maya," lucas's tone was warning, and she sighed.

"okay, fine. i'm scared of thunderstorms," she muttered, hoping he wouldn't hear her. "i know it's childish and completely irrational, but it's just something i've never been able to get over and-"

all of a sudden, she was pulled by the waist into lucas's chest.

"it's not irrational, maya," lucas mumbled, and she rested her head on his chest before she could give it too much thought. her arms slowly made their way around his waist as she breathed in the scent of his cologne, hugging herself tighter to his chest.

he pressed his lips to the top of her head as she closed her eyes and let herself begin to drift back off to sleep again.

the thunder boomed again, but maya was so wrapped up in lucas and his calming effect on her that she barely noticed it.

the green eyed boy couldn't help but grin like an idiot when he felt her smile against his chest, hoping she couldn't feel his rapid heartbeat against her own chest.

"i really like you, maya," lucas mumbled when he was sure she had fallen asleep, before letting himself drift off into a dreamy sleep.
