60 Seconds to Speak

35 12 2

Dark brown eyes

Silky, salty undefined

I watch them from afar

Every step I take, I glance back

To catch that glimpse

Momentary

But piercing.

I try to speak with my mouth

But the words crawl back up my throat.

Slowly, suffocating, scratching

The words won't come.

But if my eyes can speak,

Let them tell you how I feel

How I have watched, and waited

Longed and debated

How I can be there?

Support you and care?

Instead I blink.

And the moment passes.

My lips were frozen for an instant.

Teach me how to move,

Teach me how to speak.
