When you look in the mirror what do you see?

Your eyes

Your smile

Your hair

The way it does that flicky thing- like anyone cares.

The chip in your tooth or the mole on your neck.

The imperfections that can't be unmet.

But what should you see?

We're trained to look for beauty

To want only the best.

What do you see when you look at your friend? Her crooked nose? Her wonky smile?

No.

I see her kindness, her passion, I see her laughing in a silent cinema and shoving chocolate down her neck. I see secrets and lies, corruption and spies. I see good times and bad. Tears and tantrums, the competitions and deceit. I see forgiveness and change. A girl with a good set of... brains!

The girl walking down the street, what do you see?

The mirror's reflection doesn't reflect me.
