Elena POV
"Elena what are you going to do?"
"Uh.." I stuttered still thinking of how to answer the question that would determine my cousins fate.
"Come on Elena decide!" Isabel sighed.
"Give me a minute." I said still thinking.
"Fine." Isabel sighed again.
"Isabel give your sister a minute, this is a lot to think about." Gabe said.
"Okay." Isabel said.
"I think I've come to a decision but, I'm not officially queen yet I'm still going to need the grand councils approval."
"Okay, so what's your decision?" Naomi asked.
"What if we put Esteban on probation."
"What do you mean?" My grandmother asked.
"Well, what if we give someone else the position of Chancellor for a while and Esteban's their assistant I guess."
"Okay, and what will this do?" My grandfather asked.
"Well we can see how he handles it and by my official coronation we will make our final decision on whether or not he keeps the job."
"You know Elena that's actually a pretty good idea." My grandfather said.
"Okay, let's take a vote!" I said joyfully, "Naomi?"
"I agree." She replied quickly.
"Abuelo (grandfather)?"
"I think it's a good idea Elena." He said.
"Abuela (grandmother)?"
I think it's a mighty fine idea dear." She answered.
"Well that's the entire Grand Council except for Esteban."
"Why doesn't someone fill in for Esteban?" Naomi asked.
"Okay," I said as Mateo began to stand up, "Gabe?"
"What?" Gabe said shocked that I asked him.
"Will you sub in for Esteban?"
"Oh.. Uh... Okay, I agree with your idea Elena." Gabe said nervously scratching the back of his neck.
"Good then we all agree." I said happily.
"Yeah but, how are we going to tell Esteban?" Isabel asked.
"Oh, right." I said feeling my spirit drop.
"Hey it's okay Elena he will understand." Gabe said reassuringly even though I knew he wasn't sure.
I nodded and quickly exited the room, "I'll go tell him."
I walked down the hallway taking as long as I possibly could to reach Esteban's room. I waited a few minutes before quietly knocking on his door I waited for a few minutes and began to turn back assuming he wasn't there.
"Elena?" I heard Esteban's voice.
Great, I really have to do this now.
"H-hey Esteban what's up?" I said nervously.
"What is it Elena?"
"Okay Esteban can we talk for a minute?"
"Sure go ahead."
"W-well the rest of the grand council and I-"
"Well?"
"Uh well we decided to put you on probation for just a bit."
"What?!" He replied angrily.
"Esteban, we had to! After the whole.. well ya know the whole kingdom wanted you gone, we just put you on probation for a month or two just to see-"
"Well I'm glad the kingdom takes priority over your own cousin!"
"Esteban-"
"No Elena just leave me alone!" Esteban said slamming the door in my face.
'Well that went well', I rolled my eyes 'Not!'

Do you think Esteban was mean? (I thought he came across as mean but, he'll get over it...eventually).
