Hey peoples!!! :o) I'm glad you liked the last chapter! I'm thinking about doing a few extra chapters before the first concours to give each character more depth. Today's characters are Ryotaro. Don't forget to comment!

Chapter 6: Charity

"Bah, bah, bah, ba, bah!" Mizuki hums happily as she weaves her way through the halls of Seiso.

"You seem awfully cheery today." a voice says behind her. She turns her head to see Ryotaro standing behind her, his hands in his pockets.

"Heh, you could say that. I've got some awesome music that my dad just got me, and I can't wait to practice it!"

"Eh? What songs?" Ryotaro asks, trying to peer into the file in her hands. Mizuki jerks the file away from his face.

"Classified information," she says with a smile. "But if you really want to know, I'll show you after school today. See ya!"

"She just ran off on me. Seriously?" Ryotaro mutters, shaking his head in disbelief. He sighs and walks off back to his class. He sits down at his window seat with a good ten minutes left before class just seconds before his friend Sasaki plops down next to him, grinning like an idiot. Ryotaro's eye twitches in annoyance and he turns his head towards the window, pointedly ignoring his teasing friend.

"Tsuchiura-kun," Sasaki sings happily, a teasing glint in his eye that Ryotaro has grown to fear. "Why are you ignoring me?"

"You're grinning like an idiot again, Sasaki. When you do that, I avoid you." Ryotaro replies bluntly, stilling gazing out the window, despite the fact that he can see Sasaki's reflection on the glass.

"Well, I can't help it since you've got a date after school today." Sasaki replies, leaning back in his chair as Ryotaro's head whips in his direction.

"I am NOT going on a date. What made you get that idea?" Ryotaro retorts in confusion. Then, he realizes that Sasaki overheard his conversation with Mizuki. "Argh, you overheard the conversation, didn't you."

"Yep! Don't worry. I didn't hear anything good besides the invitation to meet up after school." his friend replies, sitting normally in his chair once more.

"We aren't dating! Yukimura-chan just wants to show me some music!" Ryotaro insists forcefully as Sasaki cackles.

"Nice catch man! How'd you get the Concours participant to like you?"

"You're not listening to me." Ryotaro mutters, giving up on convincing him. Sasaki notices this and settles down a bit.

"Chill, I'm just joking." he states, patting Ryotaro on the back. "You're too serious this morning."

"Sasaki, we've got a major test first period. I'm exhausted from studying for it.... Sasaki?"

"TEST?!?!?! I'm so dead! Argh, and I have to keep my grades up to stay on the soccer team!" Sasaki wails, frantically rummaging through his bag for his books.

"C-calm down. Isn't Japanese history easy for you?"

"Yeah! But that doesn't mean I can just wing a test!" Sasaki replies, flipping the textbook open to the right page just as the teacher walks in.

"You're going to have to." Ryotaro whispers as they all rise to say the normal greeting.

"See ya Tsuchiura-kun! Have fun!!!" Sasaki calls over his shoulder as he dashes off out the door. Ryotaro sighs heavily at his friend's antics but shrugs it off. He quickly turns his attention to finding a certain little songbird that was supposed to be there.
