2.

"Colby Brock"

His eyes widened.

"W-what?"
He asked.

"Yeah..."

"He's my best friend."

I froze.

"You're what?!"

"Yeah I can't believe he'll do that to you."

"I can't believe his you're BEST friend."

"Are you sure it's him?"

"Brown hair, blue eyes, tall and all the girls fall for him."

"Same guy."

"Since when did he become your friend?"

"The beginning of the year."

"You've got to be kidding me."

"I can't believe he'll do something like that to you. I'm not even sure if you're honest with me. He's always so friendly and kind and confident."

"I can't even imagine him like that."

"But why would he do that? Have you done anything to him?"

"Umm...."

:Flashback:

I was walking around the school. There were a couple trees on the field and I saw a boy on one of the branches.

"Are you okay?"
I asked.

"Yeah why are you asking?"
He answered.

"Cause I don't want you to get hurt when you go down."

"I'm not a baby you know."

"Yeah but still you can hurt yourself."

"Okay don't you have some other business or something so you can leave me alone?"

"Yeah I'm going jeez I just tried to help."

"Why would you want to help me when you don't even know me?
Why is everyone like this nowadays? I can take care of myself."

"Why do you have to be so rude?!"
I screamed. Big mistake.

He jumped down from the tree and pushed me back a bit.

"Why can't you just leave me alone?"
He asked.

"I am."

"No you aren't."

"I'm going fine!"

I started walking away when he kicked me in the back and I fell on the ground.

"Look little girl. What you did was a big mistake. You'll remember the name Colby Brock."

He ran off and I got up. Something bad is going to happen.

:Flashback over:

"I-I tried to help him but he was really rude."
I said.

Sam got quiet for a bit.

"It's something connected with his past. I can't tell you. You really shouldn't have done that."
He answered.

"How was I supposed to know what he was going to do?"

"Sydney. Don't ask questions when you know you won't get answers."

"Is it really that personal?"

"It is. He told me not to tell anyone so yeah."

Then my phone vibrated. I looked at it and saw that I had a message from my mom telling me to come back.

"I have to go Sam!"

"Okay well we'll see each other tomorrow!"

"Okay bye!"

I got home.

"Hey mom!"

"Sydney!"
My mom screamed.

"How are you dear?"
She asked.

She's sometimes really annoying. I know she's just trying to be nice but I've been through a lot today. If only I could tell her.

"I'm great."
I lied.

"Why do you have a bruise on your cheek?"

I really hoped she wouldn't ask this question.

"Umm-ugh....I-I...."

I didn't know what to say.

"I do?"

I looked in the mirror.

"I don't remember getting this."

"Are you sure it isn't make up?"

"Probably is."

"Okay then go wash it away! Then help me make dinner."

"Okay."

That was close. I went up to my room and covered the bruise with make up. I get asked questions like that every day and for each one there is a different answer. She used to really care at the beginning but now she really doesn't care. She probably got sick of new scars everyday and stopped asking me. But if I was a mother I would be worried. Like your child gets bruises every day and you'll not do anything about it? My mom is so weird sometimes.

But what I really want to understand is what's up with Colby? Why does he have to be so mean? What happened to him? I'll never know. But something seems really suspicious about him...
