There are many ways
To describe what "lost" truly means:
A young child,
Separated from her parents,
Trying to find her way back to them.
The car keys,
Suddenly deciding on performing
A disappearing act,
For an audience
Who never wanted to be there.
That moment
When someone says one thing,
But you feel as though
They are speaking in
A made up language
That everyone knows
But you.
The empty seat,
Forevermore,
Never to be filled
With their joy,
Their happiness,
And laughter.
The only way to describe
How I feel everyday;
As if I am stuck at a crossroad,
And there are only
Two different paths,
Yet I can't escape the feeling
That the route I am
Meant to journey
Doesn't even exist.
