The usual operation room. The usual blinding white lights. The familiar faces and the usual labcoats. A normal routine.

"It's going to take little while as usual," a woman said.

A man came from behind her, holding an injection filled with some sort of chemical. One of their new substances.

Its purpose or contents, were unknown.

"Yes, mother," the boy strapped to the operational bed replied. The man lifted his chin and injected whatever the chemical was, to a nerve at the side of his neck.

He felt it merging with his blood cells. It throbbed. It hurt, but he was so used to it that he didn't particularly care. It hurt, but it wasn't painful to him.

Soon enough, black coloured liquid oozed out of his eyes. He felt a stinging sensation as it slid down his face. The throbbing nerves which reached up to his cheeks gained a blackish colour and was visible.

"..."

The couple stayed silent looking at the results.

"It's a failure..." The man said under his breath.

"Well then. That's that," the woman said, taking off her glasses.

"We'll need to work on that," the man agreed as he took off his gloves.

The boy's father unstrapped him from the bed. He rubbed his neck and cheeks. Without saying another word, or at least taking a glance, the couple exited leaving him alone in the dark.

"Hahahahaha... Haha..." He laughed.

"If it's them, they can fix it... They can nail it," the boy whispered through his laughter, "And I'll be like them. A scientist."
