Chapter Ten

"So what's it like?" Nessa eagerly asked from over the phone. Eva dipped one nacho cheese Dorito into the pile of cream cheese she'd put on he plate and quickly demolished the chip before replying to her friend.

"It's," She paused to come up with an appropriate word, "Nice."

And that was true of course, Palo's home was more extravagant than any home she'd been in in her whole entire life.  In his room there was a large king sized bed placed perfectly in the center of it made of expensive wood and an intricately carved large headboard. His comforter was so fluffy and comfortable she'd felt like she sunk right into it and the silk sheets, although cold, were soft against her skin. An entire wall in his room was covered in what appeared to be a large mirror and on the other side there were two glass sliding doors that lead out to a humongous curved balcony. The flat screen hanging on the wall across from his bed had to be at least seventy inches and Eva couldn't help but be amazed by his extensive bookshelf of movie choices.

She'd locked herself in his room for at least an hour watching Finding Nemo, which she was surprised he owned, before she'd gotten hungry and took a journey to his kitchen. She was happy Vincent had been kind enough to give her a short tour of the estate before disappearing to do whatever minion like task Palo requested of him.

"I can't wait to come see." Nessa said with enthusiasm.

"When is your next off day? I feel so lonely here."

"Relax it's only been like two hours."

"Yesss two hours too many, this place is nice but it sure is quiet."

"And your apartment wasn't?"

"It was, but at least it wasn't BIG and quiet...somehow that makes it worse."

"You're so dramatic," Eva could practically hear Nessa rolling her eyes through the phone, "My breaks over, text me okay?"

"Yeah sure." Eva agreed, not at all ready to get off the phone with her friend.

"Bye love ya boo."

"Love ya too."

At this point the ending credits were rolling on the movie she'd been watching and she'd run all out of her snack. She hadn't noticed but her pregnancy appetite and cravings had quickly revealed themselves; she was constantly hungry.

She knew at some point she had to tell Palo about her pregnancy. She'd been afraid of his reaction and thus kept it from him. But she'd have to tell him as her ultrasound was scheduled for the next day and there was no way she'd sneak off the grounds of his estate unnoticed. She didn't have her car and Palo had too many men guarding the place, one of them were bound to inform him of her departure.  Unless she could convince Vincent to take her he was, after all, like her personal appointed guard and she could just lie and say it was a regular check-up.

That'd be a lot of work though...and how long exactly would she get away with that.

"What in the hell are you eating?" A deep voice asked from besides her causing her heart to jump in her throat.
