"Come on, (Y/n), you can make the jump. I'll catch you, I promise." Carlos smiled up at you as he held his arms out to catch you. "I won't let you get hurt," he said. You stared down at him from atop the roof of a small building. The two of you were close to reaching the halfway point, yet you encountered an obstacle along the way. You inhaled and exhaled before jumping off the roof, letting out a small squeak as he caught you. "See? That wasn't so hard."

"Easy for you to say, you're used to things like that." You furrowed your brows and sighed as he gently sat you on your feet. "I'm not used to all this."

"I'm not used to an outbreak either, (Y/n), but I understand where you're coming from." Carlos looked down at you and softly smiled before he let out a small, inaudible sigh and turned his head. "We should keep moving, though, because we--" He was cut off when he heard a low groaning noise and turned around, spotting a few infected. He immediately brought up his gun, made sure the silencer was on and fired a direct headshot at each zombie. You watched as he did so and couldn't help but be amazed at his talent. He then turned back to you, put his gun away and opened his arms. "C'mon, I'll catch you, I promise."

You took a breath, calmed yourself, exhaled and took a leap of faith. You kept your eyes tightly closed as you felt a bit of wind whip your face, and then you felt the warm embrace of what had to be Carlos.

"Promised I'd catch you, didn't I?" You opened your eyes and looked up, your (e/c) irises meeting his chocolate colored ones. He held a smile on his face and made sure you were steady on the ground before he unwrapped his arms from around you. The warm feeling faded and you frowned, but soon smiled when he looked at you. "Stay close to me, alright?" You nodded and the two of you were off and heading for the rendezvous site to meet up with his team, or what would remain of them. You kept close to Carlos and glanced around, as if searching for something. "You feeling okay?"

His question made you tilted your head up at him. "I am, I guess. Not whatever those creatures are, so I think I'm good." You then looked down. "Just suppose I'm thinking about what will happen after this, if we make it out alive."

"We'll make it, don't worry." He sent you a reassuring smile and you nodded. "Just have a little faith in me, okay?"

"I know we'll make it, but what I meant was is that I'm thinking of what I'm going to do, where I'm going to live--" You were cut off by the ringing sound coming from Carlos and he was quick to pull out a small device, which you assumed to be for communication.

He put the device to his ear. "Hello?" He then paused, and you noticed how his body stiffened and how he tightened his jaw. "Alright, we'll be there." When he looked at you, you could tell how he had sad eyes and a small frown, which was soon turned into a slight smile. "Change of plans, (Y/n). I just got word that by morning, Raccoon City will be blown off the maps."

Your eyes widened and you felt your heart rate increase a little from both anxiety and fear. "As in... they drop a bomb and everything dies?" Carlos gave a small nod and you closed your eyes. "Morning isn't very far away though..."

"Which is why we're taking a shortcut to get to the rendezvous site. A chopper should be there as we speak, so let's hurry." The man had then grabbed your hand and quickly led you down an alley. "We just go down here and we're home free," he smiled and you nodded.

You then looked down at his hand holding yours and softly smiled. His hand felt warm and soft, and the more you thought about it the more your face heated up. You eventually slipped your hand out of his and glanced down.

The brunette, upon feeling your hand leave his, turned and stared at you with a raised brow. "Are you okay?" He asked.

"Yeah," you replied, "I'm good..."

The male stared at you, his brow still raised, and turned forwards after he nodded. He looked down at the hand that held yours and frowned. Was that a bit too much? He let out a soft sigh and continued walking. You followed close behind him and kept your eyes on the ground, that is, until you heard a growling noise. It wasn't the kind any of the infected could make. Perhaps a wild animal?

Carlos stopped and glanced around the area. You stopped as well and looked up, only to widen your eyes in horror. There on the roof of a building was a horrifying creature. You couldn't quite see it well enough due to the shadows, but the moment it jumped down, you saw it fully.

It stood on two legs and was almost as tall as Carlos. The creature had long arms with four claws on its hands and three claws on its feet. It was also a nasty green color with the skin and eyes of a reptile. The monster growled at both you and the brunette. "What the hell is that?!" You didn't have an answer for Carlos, and he didn't waste any time with pumping bullets into it.

However, the creature's skin was thick and the bullets only seemed to anger it. The reptilian monster growled and charged Carlos with a headbutt to the man's chest, causing him to fall backwards onto the ground. The snake-eyed creature then turned its head towards you and snarled before it pounced on you and pinned you to the floor. You felt your heart beat faster and faster as it peered into your face. You turned away as it sniffed you and whimpered a little, which caused it to hiss.

You whimpered even more when it opened its mouth and saliva dripped onto your face. "So gross," you thought. You then felt its tongue press up against your cheek and move around your face. It was like the monster was tasting you or something, which was beyond disgusting. However, it stopped tasting you the moment it was shot at by Carlos.

"Get off of her!" He yelled. The creature snarled and got off of you before it went after the hired gun. It raised a clawed hand in the air to strike its prey, but Carlos managed to move out of the way in time to dodge the attack. He brought up his gun, aimed it at the reptilian's head and fired at it. A few bullets hit the monster's eyes, causing it to let out an agonizing cry and it swiped its claws around like crazy. The gunman quickly finished it by firing at its head, again, and the reptilian creature fell to the ground, dead.

You sat up and wiped the saliva from your face before you looked at the dead monster. You then looked at Carlos and smiled softly. "That was a close one," you said.

"Yeah," he nodded. He then held his hand out, you grabbed it and he pulled you to your feet. The man stared at your face for a moment before he grabbed a handkerchief from somewhere on his person and handed it to you. "Here, use this. You still have a bit of, uh, saliva on your face."

You nodded and took the piece of cloth, used it to wipe your face and handed it back to him. "Here you go."

"Um, why don't you just toss it?" The man closed his eyes and chuckled whilst he rubbed the back of his neck. No way in hell was he taking that thing back. Nope. "Anyways, we better hurry. That thing cost us a bit of time to get to the rendezvous point."

"Yeah, let's go." You disposed of the used material in your hand before you followed Carlos. You glanced down at the dead creature as you both passed it and wondered what, exactly, it was. It was certainly a reptilian animal, and it looked a bit human as well. Whatever it was, it was ugly as hell and you were relieved Carlos killed it when he did.

You hoped nothing else got in the way of getting to the safety point because you really didn't feel like being blown up today, or any day for that matter.

(Another update, whoo! I've decided to go ahead and finish the parts I've already started before going back to the Claire and Leon ones. I hope you enjoyed reading and stay tuned for more.)
