Chapter 16

Kevin had been antsy the whole flight. He wasn't sure if it was from flying or from not knowing what Chloe was going through. Either way he just wanted to get on the ground.

The others were all quiet around him which only seemed to set him on edge more. Aden and Benjamin were sitting across from him. Aden had his eyes closed and looked as if he was sleeping, where Benjamin was drawing on that stupid pad that he brought everywhere. Kevin had no idea how these two were going to help him bring Chloe back.

Michael and Kat sat on either side of him. Michael was staring off into space and Kevin knew he was trying to figure out how all this had happened. He couldn't bring himself to believe that Meredith had betrayed them. Kevin didn't know what to believe and had decided to wait until they were all safe again before he made any decisions.

Kat on his other side was silently stretching out her muscles getting ready for the fight a head of them. Kevin wasn't sure he liked the idea of her coming with them but knew from experience that she was more than capable of looking after herself.

Mason and Monica were flying the jet and were the only ones that made any noise, even if it was just small talk between the two of them. Kevin wasn't sure how they knew where they were going but he was thankful that they did. Despite knowing that Chloe had given them all the information that she had, Kevin had never bothered to ask where this location was.

"Get ready to land!" Mason called back to the others. "There's a hill just outside of the camp, I'm going to land us on the other side hoping that no one will see us."

"Can't you just cloak the jet?" Michael asked.

Monica looked back, glaring daggers at him. "This isn't x-men idiot. Just be happy that the jets as quiet as it is or they would definitely know that we were there.  As long as no one is looking our way then we should be able to land without anybody noticing."

Kevin looked over at Michael and saw the look of embarrassment on his face. He actually felt a little sorry for the guy.

With a slight bump, Kevin knew that they had landed, a surge of relief swept through him. Flying apparently was not for him. It became even more clear when he stood up and felt how wobbly his legs were.

"Ok lets go." Mason said walking towards the back of the plane and opening the bay doors. They all stepped out of the plane into a wide open dessert. It was no wonder Bio-Gen had chosen this place. Aside from the one hill that they were lucky enough to have as cover, everything else was flat. You'd be able to see someone coming days away.

Slowly the group began the climb up the hill, trying to find good footholds in the sand. More than once Kevin felt himself start to slip a bit before he was able to regain his footing.

When they reached the top of the hill they were surprised to see a fight going on below them. "Looks like  someone started the fun without us." Aden said coming up beside Kevin.

Kevin took a look at him now that they were out of the plane. He was surprised to see that both he and his brother were carrying guns and had many more strapped to them. Benjamin caught Kevin looking and smiled. "Don't be fooled by our attitude when were back at the mansion. Before Mason found us we were trained to fight. We were good at it too. That's why Mason brings us along on many of his trips. Our abilities may be passive but that doesn't mean we have to be.

Kevin nodded at this, feeling bad for underestimating the brothers when he did. He was now glad that they were there with him, fighting alongside with him.

"We better move quickly, looks like they are going to need some help." Monica said as she started making her way down the hill and towards the compound, the others not taking long to follow.
