I feel like I have only been living a minute. I can't walk because I'm in my bed all day. I don't feel alive. I don't feel how I used to feel before cancer decided to bring me here. Suddenly my eyes widen when I see Lacey, Ocean and Violet strut into the hospital room. They all smile brightly as they sit down on three different chairs.
"We missed you so so so much." Ocean flashes her teeth in a heart warming smile. "I missed you guys too. I still miss you because I might never get out of here." I tell them. They're smiles fade into frowns.
They look like I had just died in front of them. They became grey and they lost all the hope they had in they're hearts. I glance around the room, this hopeless dead room. This room–this hospital is tearing me down into small tiny pieces of crumpled paper.
No one says anything for a long time. Finally, Lacey speaks up. "When will you get out of here? When?" She questions. "When" is such a strong word. "If." I correct her. "When." She says again like she's positive I'm leaving here alive.
I still think if but I'm not going to argue. If I stay alive. "If I do stay alive then I'll be normal again. I will go back to school, we'll go shopping, it'll be fun." I say. They nod.
"How long have you been here?" Lacey asks. "Seven and a half months." I sigh breathing faster. My lungs feel like they are a thousand pounds but I still breathe. Breathe in, breathe out.
Because breathing is what makes me alive at this moment. I can't forget to breathe. "We can't wait till we can hangout again." Ocean adds, happily. "What? This is hanging out right now." I tell them.
"No it's not. This is us visiting you. Hanging out is doing something fun at a mall or something. Or at someone's house." Violet chirps. "Speaking of hanging out.. My birthday is in three days. Can you come?" Lacey asks me with hopeful eyes.
"I'll ask the doctors but I'm not sure." I shrug. "Well I hope you can come. See you soon!" They say as they exit the hospital.
