You were having Vern over for dinner tonight. Since he was meeting the rest of your family, you were hoping that their first impression of him will be more positive than negative. Your older brother, Charlie, walked into the kitchen as you sat by the counter. "Hey, (Y/N), where's your boyfriend?" he joked. "Shut up, Charlie!" you shouted as he chucked. "Now, now, Charlie, what did I tell you about pulling jokes like that on your sister?" your mother asked. "Yeah, yeah, yeah, whatever you say, mom," he said as he went into the living room to watch movies that came on at night. Your mother shook her head as she looked at you. "Don't worry, dear, I think Vern will do fine," your mother said as you smiled. "Thanks," you said. She smiles softly as she kisses your forehead. The doorbell rang and your father answered. It was your grandparents, your aunt (Y/A/N), and your uncle (Y/U/N). They exchanged hellos with you along with hugs and kisses on the cheek. "So, (Y/N), your mom has told us that you have a lucky man in your life," your grandpa said. This caused you to giggle. "He's just a friend from school, grandpa," you said with a smile. As the doorbell rang, you smiled more. "I'll get it," you said as you went to the door. You opened it, and there stood Vern with a bouquet of (Y/F/F). "Hi there, (Y/N). I hope I'm not too late. These are for you, sincerely," he said softly as he handed you the bouquet. This caused you to blush. "Thanks, Vern. Come on in, it's rather cold outside," you said as you let him in. Vern stepped in, and you closed the door behind him as he hung up his jacket. You and Vern walked into the kitchen as everyone smiles, except for Charlie. "(Y/N), who is this handsome young man?" your aunt asked. "Aunt (Y/A/N), uncle (Y/U/N), grandma, grandpa, this is Vern. He's one of my very close friends at school," you said. "Hi," Vern said nervously as everyone said 'hello' back. "I like him already," your uncle said as everyone laughed. You were glad that, in that moment, things were looking up.
