Chapter Seven: Time To Think
Drew's eyes showed everything from hatred to disappointment, but he does not speak.
Jazzy just looks purely surprised. Her eyes are wide and her eyebrows are quirked in the most confused way.
"No, it's not at all like what you think! I fell down the stairs and accidentally fell on top of him! I swear, you guys have to believe me!" I plead, mostly looking at Drew.
Jazzy sighs, "That's not exactly the most believable excuse, Celeste."
"But it's the truth, not an excuse!" my eyes look directly into Drew's.
"Celeste...," he trails off as if he doesn't know what to say.
"Please understand. It's not anything serious," I beg him.
Drew takes his phone from my hand and looks at the photo, "Who is that?"
"Carter, Hallie's older brother," I am almost ashamed.
Drew's eyes flash with anger, but he remains calm, "I knew it."
My face begins to burn, "No, Drew. Please."
"I need time to think Celeste," he drops the handle of my suitcase and heads back into the elevator, "Bye for now Jazzy, Celeste."
Tears are coming out fast. Soon, I'm on the ground, crying like a baby. Jazzy hesitates, but then speaks calming words into my ear. Her soft and gentle tone rings through me, but does not instaneously calm me down.
"I'm so sorry Celeste. I-i-i-i h-h-had n-no idea that would happen!" she sputters out. I can tell that she too, is close to tears.
I am unable to respond so I don't. By now, there are many who have gathered around me. Most of them are trying to help, but the attention I'm getting is not fun because it's unwanted attention.
After a few minutes, I can no longer stand the alone feeling inside if me, so I grab my purse and run back into the elevator. I press the button for the first floor. Just as the elevator doors close, Jazzy sticks her head through them and push the doors apart. The doors stop closing in, not wanting to kill Jazzy.
"Where are you going?" she asks calmly.
I wipe a couple tears that have left my eyes, "Back to campus."
I expect her to be surprised and insist that I stay. I'm not sure if it's unfortunate or not, but all she does is nod her head and let the elevator door close.
The taxi ride was long because of my crying and because of the taxi driver constantly asking if was okay. Eventually, we arrived at the airport and I sprinted out.
Once again, I am confused of all the different flights and numbers. It's because I hardly travel via airplanes because I never left the house. It was always my parents visiting me, instead of me visiting them, so airports are like a newly discovered territory to me.
I spot the sleek black haired girl who helped me find out where Drew and Jazzy were waiting for me. Beside her is an other girl who looks similar to her. I run up to them, with my eyes still teared up.
"Oh my gosh, are you okay?" the girl who helped me earlier says with concern flashing through her black eyes.
"God, you look horrible!" the girl beside her comments, but then realizes what she has said, "No, no! I didn't mean like that! Sorry!"
I give a small chuckle, which ends up sounding like a croak, "It's okay."
"Please ignore my sister. You're the girl I helped just over an hour ago, aren't you? You looked flawless then... what happened?" she stretches her arms out to me, offering a hug.
