For bettythedwarfqueen

(Y/N) watched contentedly as the sun rose majestically over the Misty Mountains. The frigid air of the dark night faded as the heat of the sun warmed Middle Earth and its people, causing the land to have a certain glow about it.

A calm feeling passed over the mind of (Y/N), bringing her to temporarily forget all of the troubles of the world. She sat in wait of the new day in silence for several moments before loud, obnoxious footsteps could be heard clambering up the hill which she was positioned on. (Y/N) groaned and turned about just in time to see a handsome young dwarf standing mere feet away from her.

"Are you enjoying the view, lass?" Bofur laughed heartily. He proceeded to walk towards young (Y/N) and he swiftly seated himself upon the luscious grass beside her. Looking out over the mountains and towards the view, he too found himself memorized by the beauty of the rising sun.

"Yes, very much so, Master Bofur," (Y/N) responded in a very business-like tone. Bofur grinned brightly and waved off her reply.

Simply in return, he said, "No need for such formalities, (Y/N)! We had first met years ago, and now we have developed an undeniable close friendship!"

(Y/N) could not, in fact, deny their close bond. And yet she was not finished toying with her rambunctious, utterly obnoxious old friend.

"Master Bofur," she began lightly, "would you mind seating yourself closer to me?"

Bofur turned to face her, his left eyebrow raised in a ludicrous manner. And yet, despite his ever-growing suspicion that her advances would amount up to be little more than a trick, he obliged and moved several inches closer to (Y/N).

"Thank you, Master Bofur," she said politely. Bofur soon found himself feeling as though (Y/N) was genuinely attempting to become intimate with him, and so he carefully wrapped an arm around her, holding (Y/N) protectively to his side.

"(Y/N), lass, if you wanted to court me, all that you had to do was tell me," he said in a hushed whisper.

(Y/N) whipped around and looked as though she were about to strike him, but her anger soon recoiled, but it was as though she had forced it away.

Slowly, (Y/N) leaned into Bofur, causing him to chuckle lightly.

"Master Bofur, perhaps you are right, and I do wish to court you," (Y/N) muttered quietly.

Without (Y/N) noticing, Bofur's face turned a light crimson color. He felt rather triumphant, and yet he managed to keep his joy concealed.

"But, maybe this was all...just a trick!"

(Y/N) smirked devilishly as she quickly stole the hat right off of Bofur's head. Laughing, she sprinted off of the hill and raced towards the entrance to the forest nearby.

Bofur yelped and leapt to his feet, chasing after the girl with unsurpassed speed and agility -save the elves-. He called out as he followed swiftly after (Y/N), all the while being very cautious not to fall and injure himself.

For several yards he endured running, and yet he soon was forced to stop and take a rest. Bofur was beginning to lose faith that he would ever catch up to his dear friend.

However, despite what he let on, he thought of the lovely (Y/N) as more than just a mere friend. Ever since he had returned from his perilous yet successful journey to reclaim Erebor, where he found (Y/N) crying tears of utmost joy upon his arrival, he had known that she was the woman who he loved.

And yet despite how deeply he felt for her, he never could truly confess his feelings for his dear (Y/N).

Quite suddenly, almost as though it were meant to return his thoughts to the task at hand, he heard the undeniable laughter of (Y/N) as it echoed through the broad forest. Bofur tried with all of his might to identify which direction the blissful sound was arising from, and yet he found that he himself could not.
