Chapter 21

{December 31, 2016}
"Maddy, are you ready?" My mom asked. I finished putting my lipstick on and opened the door.

"Yeah." I said. We were going to my brothers house for New Years. I wish dylan was with me, but he's back in Los Angeles. My sisters friend got kicked out of our house, so she's back with her own family. Finally.

"Let's go!" My stepdad shouted and we all walked out of the house and piled into the car. I looked at my phone and saw a text from dylan. I smiled. Even though we've been texting all day.

Dyl💖🙈: so, I'm going to try to come back for Mardi Gras, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to

Me: okay. I can't wait to see you again❤

Dyl💖🙈: maybe I'll fly you out to LA soon so you can see my apartment ❤️

Yeah, that will go over well with my father.

Me: good luck convincing my father to let me😂

Dyl💖🙈: your dad loves me! Come on, I literally convinced him to let me stay at your house and surprise you

Me: yeah. At my house. Where he was the whole time. Watching us. The. Whole. Time!

Dyl💖🙈: that's true..hmm, I'll think of something, babe. I want to show you LA

I smiled. I'd love to see Los Angeles and I'd love nothing more than to see it all with dylan.

Me: I'm going to hold you to that😘

My stepdad pulled into my brothers driveway and we piled out, walking inside. We were the first ones there.

"Mads, come with me! We're going get Popeyes and some drinks!" My brother said. I nodded and walked back outside, my brother behind me.

"Call dylan." He said as soon as we were back in my moms car. I looked at him confused.

"What? Why?"

"Because I have yet to meet him, so call him." I rolled my eyes and plugged my phone to the aux cord. I went to Dylan's contact and called him, turning the radio up. Dylan answered on the third ring.

"Hey, baby." I blushed. "What's up?"

"My brother wants to talk to you. You're on speaker." I said. In that moment, I regretted calling dylan because my brother started giving him the 'big brother talk' and threatening him.
