for the rest of dinner josh left a little room on his an ethan's bench seat so i could sit down,
being with josh's friends made me happy.
i never really had friends when i was, well, living i guess,
josh notices my thinking and he grabs my hand.
he squeezes it and gives me a little side-smile,
"so lads, ready to go?" tobi says as he hands the check to the waiter.
"you bet!" harry squeals throwing his arms us catching a few glares,
"harry!" josh scolds,
"sorry dad" harry teases poking his tongue out at josh.
i chuckle at them,
"ready?" josh whispers as he gestures me to get up so he and ethan can get out.
i give him a little nod and get up,
"hey guys! what about we go to the park for a bit" josh says,
"but joshy" harry whines.
"i'll buy you ice cream" josh winks,
"ice cream," i hear myself say.
josh chuckles as he carefully drags me and the guys to the park across the road,
"guys find a seat! i'll get the ice cream!" josh calls dragging us away.
"so?" josh asks getting out his wallet,
"so..?"
"what flavor, dummy"
"o-oh, vanilla, strawberry and chocolate please" josh just raises his eyebrow as he orders to the ice cream.
i hold my ice cream on a bench with no one around as i wait for josh,
"sorry about the wait" josh plonks himself down next to me licking his choc mint ice cream.
after a moment of comfortable silence josh speaks,
"so why vanilla, strawberry and chocolate?"
"well, when i was alive i had this like motto"
"what's that?"
"that if i knew i died, i'd at least have eaten the three best ice cream flavors before"
"you're weird you know" josh chuckles,
"so i was told, but now that i am dead like i guess i can eat what i want"
"please stop simon" josh frowns at me,
"s-stop doing wh-what? did i do something wrong?" i say as tears well up in my eyes.
"stop talking like you're dead and everyone's forgotten about you"
"b-but i am dead and everyone has forgotten about me josh!" i say as tears fall and i attempt to wipe them away,
"no simon, you are alive and i haven't forgotten about you. sure i was shocked at the start but i've grown, you are apart of my life now and i enjoy you being here"
"i d-don't want your pity josh,"
"it's not my pity simon, i've accepted you so now it's time for you to do the same."
