Fortunately for the intern, a colleague eventually spotted Namjoon and took pity on him, offering him a few errands to run, plus some article in need of completion handed down to him.
Typing away at the computer, Namjoon does his best to maintain focus and not concern himself with any other staff, particularly the man in the next room, Jung Hoseok. This work ethic of trying not to allow personal life to influence work does not however stop his mind from wandering, first looking back on his childhood, and then progressing into hypothesis' of what could have potentially happened in Hoseok's life since they parted ways.
As quite a goofy looking child, with somewhat messy hair as unsure as the boy in life himself and having not quite grown into his teeth yet, Hoseok seems to have matured extremely well in Namjoon's mind; razor sharp jawline, dreamy crescent eyes, and he probably still has his dimples when he smiles... But unfortunately, the handsome man did not smile once, making him a completely different being in Namjoon's eyes as he looks back on the younger version of the man who used to giggle and smile at pretty much everything, every day.
With such defined and well evolved features, Namjoon couldn't help but find himself wondering if Hoseok had found himself a significant other to return home to at night and whether they were male or female, unemployed with just the purpose of sitting pretty or successful with a well paid job, clumsy like himself or a completely different, more composed individual.
Here was the thing about Namjoon and Hoseok during school; they had known each other for years, since they had learned how to tie their shoes and write the alphabet, and it wasn't until the final year of high school that they had to make an exit from each other's lives as Hoseok's parents moved out of the area. They promised to stay in touch, and for the first year, they kept their promises, texting most days and even sending handwritten letters with photographs and other pieces of sentimentary*. But unfortunately the contact eventually ceased, with each boy having their own life to focus on with graduating, then moving onto further education, and then employment.
On the surface, the two boys were best friends, but when left home alone, eventually their relationship took a turn, being the two awkward teenagers they were with a non-existent social or love life, thanks to the wonders that is the internet taking up each of their time whenever they weren't studying, always available to accommodate the need for TV, music, reading...
It became the norm to spend a sunny Saturday afternoon indoors to finish the latest series of anime, rather than roaming the streets to interact with new people. They had stuck together through high school because they entered the place being the only familiar face to one another and with that, their friendship grew stronger, and their bond closer, seldom talking to anyone else, and not really knowing how to approach their classmates for anything other than work.
Moving swiftly on from the boys' early high school history, there arose that stage in their life, that practically every teen arrives at, in which they begin to question and explore their sexuality, and it was most definitely thanks to his best friend Hoseok that Namjoon discovered and became certain that he was into guys.
Inappropriate thoughts of his friend had been running through Namjoon's mind throughout the second to last year of high school, seeing his friend undress in the changing rooms for physical education lessons, watching his friend provocatively dance to some random electronic music for a laugh... Namjoon was young, and maybe desperate, but he knew he wanted nothing more than to discover the touch of Hoseok, and not just the contact he received from him in a celebratory bro hug when achieving something great.
It was surprisingly Hoseok that made the first move on Namjoon one night though; one seemingly normal night that they'd spent together at one of their houses for their weekly sleep overs, their suggestion to try playing 'truth or dare' with just 2 people had basically turned into a game of just 'truth' when Namjoon's parents had complained about the noise when Hoseok screamed some random embarrassing lie out the window, something along the lines of sucking of a teacher to get an A.
