In a matter of a few days, things had gotten worse for DeVante as a random rape and attempted murder charge was filed against him and bandmate, K-Ci, from Nadja who had been paid by Kim to fake the allegations. However, they still continued to work on the album, allowing their lawyers to handle the charges instead.

DeVante leaned back into his seat, looking at the camera as he chewed a piece of pork-chop he had bitten off while K-Ci was in the booth being vocally directed by Charles, "Its called My Heart Belongs To You." He paused and smacked on the food that was currently in his mouth as he swung the chair side to side with his weight, "What's up, BET?"
The group had began working on the song he had originally written for Rhonda, which was still going to be dedicated to her. He knew she would hear it so he made sure it was part of the album, taking his time to craft the chords of the piano and instruct the guys on how to sing it to make it perfect.
He sat in his chair, near the soundboard with his pork-chop in hand he took another bite while watching K-Ci.
"Hold on, hold on. Take it from the top", K-Ci said as he adjusted his headphones over his ears.
DeVante pulled his chair closer, speaking to him, "K-Ci."
"What?"
"Watch when you do 'In the evening'. Make sure you don't go...flat on the part", he instructed and K-Ci just nodded as Charles started to play the track once again. Though there was a bit of tension between the two of them at the moment, they didn't allow it to interfere with the music, setting their issues with each other aside for the sake of their career and sadly, for the sake of their freedom. He watched as K-Ci continued to work on his vocals before he played it back, listening intently as he nodded his head and wiped his hands clean with a napkin from all the grease that had gotten on his fingers. Once it had reached the 'In the evening' lyric, he shook his head as he spoke to Charles, "Go back." Charles stopped the track and did as told while DeVante talked to K-Ci, "You gotta' watch that riff. You can't go up?"
K-Ci looked at DeVante, trying to conceal his annoyance and responding dryly, "Yeah." Began to sing into the mic, trying to see if he was getting it right before they began to record it again. "Yo, hold on, hold on, hold on. Need it." He scrunched his face up slightly as if anybody had said it was wrong, "That was it!" DeVante remained quiet, just staring at him as he watched him finish his vocals, rocking side to side in his chair, deciding to just ignore K-Ci's attitude. "Aight", he said into the mic once he had finished, whistling awkwardly as he took off the headphones and talking to the camera. "I hate to say goodbye to y'all but I gotta' go back in there for a lil' while and let DeVante do his thing." He mumbled under his breath as he walked to the door of the booth, "He can't sing better than me, though." Laughing, he pulled the door open and allowed DeVante to walk inside. "What's wrong with these cameras, g?", he asked as he walked out.
"Yo. I'm about to sing my note. I know people waitin' to see 'cause they never saw me sing but y'all gotta' film me from in there", DeVante said followed by a trail of chuckles while walking toward the mic, putting the headphones on. "Yo, Dr. Charles. Roll the tape, roll—", he started to rap, stopping as he chuckled with a bright smile due to Charles laughing from the other side of the glass. "Roll the tape, roll the tape."
He had laid down his vocals, deciding to help JoJo with his so it wouldn't take as long as it did with K-Ci. He was at the piano, playing the chords as JoJo sat next to him.
"Whatever you want", JoJo began to sing.
DeVante jumped in to harmonize with him,
"My heart belongs to you."
