Alpha Flight Part 2

Team RWWBY stood ready but Oobleck ordered, "Stop!" Blake asked, "Huh?" Logan turned to listen as Oobleck explained, "There are a number of reasons why Grimm will congregate in this particular area, the most likely of which will be their attraction to negativity: sadness, envy, loneliness, hatred. All qualities that are likely held by our hidden group harboring ill intent." Ruby asked, "So, what now?" Oobleck replied, "We wait. We track. If this specimen leads us to its pack, that pack may subsequently lead us to our prey." Yang asked, "How long do we wait?" Oobleck responded, "It's uncertain. Hours, days, weeks. Why, lone Grimm have been known to stay isolated from the pack for months - and there's the whole pack." Logan unsheathed his claws as they spotted an entire pack of Beowolves. Logan snarled, "Shit." Weiss asked, "What?" Oobleck answered, "Now they've seen us." Weiss asked, "What?!" Oobleck zipped to her ear and repeated loudly, "AND NOW THEY'VE SEEN US!" Ruby asked, "I take it tracking them is out of the question?" Oobleck nodded, "An accurate assumption, yes." Yang asked, "What's the plan, then?" The pack runs toward them as the team turned to Oobleck who replied, "Show me what you're capable of." Logan unsheathed his claws as he roared at the Grimm. He lunged at one of them as they rolled over and stabs him in the throat as he rips the head off. Logan then somersaulted to another Beowolf as he stabbed it in the feet. He then shot his body up to kick it in the face as the Beowolf fell on its back. Logan gets his claws out as he stabs him the chest. Unexpectedly, a Beowolf stabs him in the back as Logan cried out in pain. Shaking it off, Logan gets himself off as he turned around to slice its legs off and stabbed it underneath the chin. Logan quickly turns around to see two Beowolves about to gang up on Ewei chasing his tail. He lunged at them as he stabbed them in their necks as they fell on their backs. Logan breathed in calmly as his healing factor began to heal his wounds and the suit repaired itself. He carried Ewei over to Blake, Weiss, and Yang as he sets the corgi down. Oobleck advised, "Do not celebrate yet, for I am certain this is the first bout of many. Shall we continue?"

The team finished taking down more Beowolves as Oobleck said, "Excellent work, girls and boy! Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any signs of criminal operations in this sector. Oh, well! Moving on!" Logan retracted his claws as they began to follow Oobleck. Yang asked, "Hey, Doc, y'know, I was actually looking forward to seeing a "pro Huntsman" in action. Like, fighting, or at least, helping us fight?" Oobleck turned over his shoulder and rebutted, "Ah, but I am in action! Scouring the ruins of this once-great city for any signs of irregularity!" He turned around fully to the team as he said, "Not every mission is filled with daring and heroism, children. Sometimes it's just a heightened form of extermination!" Yang reluctantly accepted this as Oobleck added, "Remember, this is a job, and you all signed up for it. I do hope you understand that." Yang nodded, "Well, yeah... O-Of course!" Oobleck looked at her before moving on.

Logan split up from the team for a while as he tried to find at least something leading to Victor Creed. Then he sees an abandoned butcher shop. On the door, it had familiar claw marks. "Hmm. Too short to be a Beowolf," muttered Logan. "Could this be it?" He entered inside only to be welcomed by an Ursa. The bear like Grimm lunged at him onto the rotten and probably expired meat. Logan grunted as he kicked it off and stabbed it in the chest. The Ursa fell down dead as he saw a note on the wall saying, "Hey little brother. Figured you try to follow my trail here. See you soon Jimmy." Logan growled as he cursed, "Fuck! Shit! Fucking fucking shit!" Oobleck came inside as he said, "Language!" Logan recomposed himself as he apologized, "Sorry. What do you need, doctor?" Oobleck answered, "Just for you to answer this question. Why do you want to be a huntsman?" Logan thought about it and then answered, "For too long I fought without a true purpose for me. And now, I want to make right for everything bad thing I've done to everyone." Oobleck contemplated on that as he said, "Hmm. I see." Then he dashes out of the butcher shop. Logan looked at the wall again as he snarled, "I'm coming for you, Victor. And this time they're be no more code of conduct. I'll be coming for blood."

Logan rejoined with his teammates and Oobleck as Ruby asked, "Sorry! Uh... Are we ready to keep going?" Oobleck shook his head as he answered, "Nope! I believe that will have to do for today. It's going to be dark soon." He throws his bag for Yang as he ordered, "You four, set up camp in that building. Oh, and please do make sure there are no more of those... creatures. Your leader and I are going to secure the perimeter. Come, Ruby." They start walking away Logan wondered what Ruby's answer was going to be.

The four finished making the fire and there was a moment of silence until Yang said, "I can't believe we didn't find anything..." Logan took out his hip flask and nodded as he drank. Blake reminded, "We've always been fortunate enough to be in the right place at the right time. I guess we can't always have luck on our side." Logan said, "I was at least close to something, anything, but I fell into a trap." Off topic, Weiss said, "That's not what I meant." Blake asked, "Huh?" Weiss explained, "Earlier, about... upholding the legacy. There's more to it than that." Yang nodded, "Yeah... No, me too. I mean... I don't know." Blake said, "I don't know, either. I know what I want to do, but I figured I'd always take things one step at a time." Yang said, "Well, it doesn't matter. We know why we're here. Right?" Logan shrugged as he took off his cowl and there was another moment of silence. Then Oobleck rushed in as he said, "Ah, wonderful; a textbook campfire!" Ruby exclaimed, "Fire!" She and Ewei came up to the fire as Ruby relaxed, "So... warm..." Oobleck nodded, "Very good! Eat your dinners and hurry to bed. We have a lot of ground to cover tomorrow and we'll need you to take turns keeping watch over our temporary abode. Any volunteers for first watch?" Ruby raised her hand up as she answered simply, "Yo." Oobleck rushed off as Ruby got up to go to her lookout point. Yang stops her as she asked, "Hey, did Oobleck ask you why you wanted to be a Huntress? I mean... what did you tell him?" Ruby replied, "Hmm... No, he didn't. Weird. Oh, well; good night, guys!" Yang looked disappointed for a lack of an answer. Logan held her hand as Yang looked at him and sighed. She sits down with Logan continuing to hold her hand as she placed her head on his shoulder. Yang finished her bread rolls as Logan got up before kissing her head. Logan gets on his sleeping bag in between Blake and Yang as he heard Beowolves howling.
