Prologue

Before reading keep in mind that these vampires aren't like normal stories. They're rabid, resembling zombies. Or cranks, if you've ever read The Maze Runner series. This takes place 10 years after the apocalypse has already happened. I hope you all enjoy, I know I'm going to have a lot of fun writing this. (: xoxo

Prologue

When I was sixteen, the world came to an end and a new one began.

My family was the first to ever take action. And because of this, we became rulers of what's left of the world. We've gathered as many survivors as we could and have spread out over the world, creating an army and saving those we can.

No one saw the vampires when they came. My father knows what started all of this, but he would never tell me what it was. Although, I had a theory. A disease. It spread across the world, turning humans into monstrous animals that feed on blood to survive. They behave like a rabid, caged animal. A cure hasn't been found, but at least we've found a way to kill them.

I never wanted to be a princess. I didn't want the world to end. But it was out of my hands.

Ten years have gone by since all of this began and we still search for survivors. Last time I checked we've had nearly 200,000. But I know there is still many more in hiding, surviving and hidden away from this world.

But I couldn't do this anymore with my family. I wanted to fight, but I wanted to do it by my own choice. My parents want to keep me safe from everything out there in the world. But I've been training for years and years, and I'm ready to be on my own.

Today is the day, finally. Today is the day that I escape them and take my life into my own hands.
