Chapter 7 The Story Comes Together

once the ship had gotten close enough to touch the waterfall i felt myself being slowly drug downwards as our ship readjusted to sail directly up the waterfall. i fell hitting the wall next to the entrance down stairs. i looked to my right to witness the two children enjoying themselves fall down to the lower deck. Gurd seemed to be doing all right since i was hearing him laugh and talk about something about youngsters. Wix had fallen even if she could fly the wind going downwards pulled her down toward onto my stomach where she crawled up my body and hid inside my new coat which was unbuttoned and brown, it looked like what Kirito wears in SAO but without all the straps and stuff keeping it tight. i also had on a gray shirt underneath my jacket. Gurd was still laughing by the time we nearly made it up the waterfall i felt us losing speed fast. thankfully the moment it looked like the ship would do half a back flip down to bottom of the waterfall and kill us the ships wings took real action and we were flung into the air high above the kingdom. we were high enough for the ship to finally fly and overlook the kingdom with great ease. the twins came running up laughing like always and said at the same time "look mister, isn't it beautiful?" "yeah, it sure is." i said. the island was huge with a giant white castle near the back in the center with a big garden surrounding it. there was a path leading to all the house and markets, which were selling mainly fruits and vegetables. i noticed they had a dock as well with a couple ships, maybe three. Gurd seemed to be pushing some sort of button and the ship started moving forward decending as well slowly moved towards the dock. i looked up at the sun with my hand covering my face smiling. wix looked at me and said "well, whaddya know? you CAN smile!" "huh?" i looked at her and my smile immediately faded. "finally here." i thought. meanwhile as Jack slowly moves towards the kingdom of layrule a mysterious man with a very laid back and bored expression was holding groceries checking off different foods off a list in his hand. "OK, so i got the eggs, the flour, the..wait this looks like a recipe for a cake? why is everyone so focused on sweets nowadays." the man thought sighing with his head down and continued walking. the man looked up moments later to see a woman with ram horns in a white dress running from something behind her. she bumped into the man when he said "watch it! you crazy chick ram lady thing!" "oh, sorr..." the lady gasps and runs away as quickly as possible. "wait i know you...you're the one!" the man thought of an earlier meeting he had been to with all the other members in Crossed Lines. "OK, now if anyone sees her report it right away after capture, she's the one who holds the key to success of our mission." the man in white said pointing towards an image of the ram girl floating above a fancy dining table. back in the present the man (Aito) got up and picked all of his groceries and ran after her yelling wait as she runs from him. back with Jack who has now just landed officially on the island was being thoroughly checked and identified as a new existence. "all clear you're presence in this world is now known we'll use this device to see who you are now." said the standard looking guard who always takes his job too seriously. "thanks for the heads up." i said looking at the square black device, it looked like a Switch but again was all black and used glass for the entire object which to me seemed like it would be easy to break. we walked past the gate that opened in front of us and were lead into town. i didn't know where to start, i looked around the area to see only markets with fresh fruits or vegetables lying around. i turned to Gurds group and waved goodbye to them as we were now going to do our own thing. i said something cliche like until we meet again. Wix and i continued scrolling towards the castle while picking up some information on this organization and this kingdom which is apparently call layrule. i learned more about this organization called Crossed Lines and supposedly gained it's name from how many members betrayed each other in the forming of the group and each split into four different main sectors and a lot of other smaller sectors all over the entire planet. on a map the four sectors are set somewhere in each corner of a map. the map looked completely opposite and unlike earth a bunch of stuff was all over the place with a land mass one place and a land mass somewhere else entirely, it's the best way i can describe it, it was too hard to actually describe exactly. i do know that layrule rests in the center of the map which has the ocean surround it mostly. we came close to the entrance of the castle as we saw a girl running frantically away, she had ram horns white hair and a white dress on and seemed worried about something. a few seconds later we started walking forward when a guy wearing a torn up scarf and a scratchy stubble beard with lazier eyes than mine bumped into us knocking us both onto our bums. Wix flew down to my face worried and asked if i was OK, i told her i was and she sighed with relief. "man, don't people these days at least know to watch where they're going?" the man said. "oh uh sorry sir i was just passing by." i noticed before he took his head up that he was human, and after the last encounter, i was not ready for a fight. i used my powers to tamper with his mind and make him see me as a resident that lives in this world, i had no idea what he saw though, it depended on what he enjoys seeing most in the world. "oh, my apologizes miss, i didn't know such beautiful succubus like yourself would be here." as the man got up he introduced himself "my names Aito would you care to join me tonight?" he put his hand on his heart and leaned down on one knee. "uh, no thanks i don't think that's a good idea, i mean you're clearly way to old for me and it's creepy with someone as old as you." i said. Aitos face turned to stone in rejection and began walking away heart broken. "old." he muttered under his breath completely forgetting what he had been doing before hand. we walked up to the castle casually figuring i could meet with king or queen who rules this land to give me some info on where to journey next on my quest to see everything there is. when we made it to the gate though the guards stopped me from entering even when they used that device to register me again i was unable to enter "you do not have the rank or authority they said." i muttered under my breath. i had been sitting on a cliff next to a tree close to the gate just swinging my legs back and forth angrily at them denying my request. don't get me wrong i don't think of myself as some hero or privileged person because i have powers or something. i just wanted to talk was all. i thought about how i could use my powers to easily get access into the castle by manipulating reality or something, but then it just seemed like a lot of work to make happen. i figured to keep myself grounded and off the radar as much as possible without using any big over the top part of my powers. i got up and decided to go with wix down the woods to the opposite side of the entrance to the right of me when that guy ran into me. he was probably chasing after that ram girl. i decided i wouldn't get involved with anything those Crossed Lines people were doing and continue my journey away from them as much as i can, which isn't easy now that they know you exist and are probably looking for you. i trekked down to the woods where the stone blocky path turned into a smooth dirt path. eventually i saw some furry animals like rabbits and deer every now and then passing through the grass. we were coming up to a lake when as soon as we arrived the girl with ram horns bumped into me not paying attention to where she was going and we both fell on the floor. i opened my eyes to feel something in my hand and immediately got super uncomfortable, i closed my eyes and quickly calmed down i let go of what i was holding and moved my hand up further for some air past the girls body. the girl got up with red cheeks and looked more worried than angry. she kept looking behind her every 5 seconds. "so, who is chasing you and why?" i asked. "i have nothing important to them, they chase me because they foolishly believe half of an old legend." she said looking away from me angry now. "okay, first of all i'm sorry for the 'thing' i did it was an accident and if it should happen again i apologize in advance (even though i'd prefer it not happen again.) anyway what's your name? come on you can trust me i'm not like those other guys." i said trying to get her attention. she kept switching between a worried look, an angry look, and an unsure of weather or not to trust me look, all in 2 seconds. "hey, my name is Jake, OK?" i said trying to still gain her trust. "Jake? what a silly and stupid name that is." she said with a quiet giggle to herself. "well, at least you have a sense of humor it seems." i said relaxing back on a rock while we sat in front of a glowing blue lake. "i'm tired even just walking around *yawns* puts me to sleep after a while." i said resting my eyes thinking of what i should 'dream' about tonight. a few hours later, the night seemed to have darkened and i heard some singing far away somewhere. i felt compelled to investigate the source, but before i did i looked around and noticed the girl was gone. i thought about two paths that now lay before me, i could either choose to follow the singing to find out it is either the girl, which could lead to her hating me more. or i could find someone else which would lead me to being hated by that person. my other option was to go back to sleep and never talk about this ever again. i tried doing the second option, but couldn't get any more rest until i got active again. so i had no real choice but to go and snoop out the source of the singing. i followed it down the lake to the other side and saw the girl with ram horns sitting on a rock looking up at the moon sad and singing. i felt like i normally did though as i heard the song, i assumed it would enchant anyone else, but i normally don't feel any logically emotions so i was just listening to the tune not having an opinion on the song at all. i went to sneak up a little closer when a twig snapped and her singing stopped with a gasp as she finally noticed me there, she was blushing. "sorry, i just couldn't go back to sleep without being motivated first." i said. "like always." the girl muttered under her breath nostalgically. "what was that?" i asked unable to hear what she was saying. "oh, nothing anyway did you feel anything during that song?" she asked curious. "no, i don't know why, but i normally can't feel anything towards songs. even ones that get me pumped and ready to do something, i just don't really 'feel' anything towards them. no love. no hate. i suppose that's what makes me so odd." i said not able to keep my mouth shout. the girl sighed and said "well you gave me your name i suppose i should give you mine, it's maya." maya had a saddened look on her face like she finally cracked the secret of all life and didn't get happy news. "well maya, nice to meet you." i said walking up to her up onto the rock and holding my hand to help her up. she looked at my hand and decided to take it. "tomorrow i'm going to the town to get some supplies for my adventure, if you need someone to help you, you could always join us. i've been wanting to see some more of the exciting mysteries all around this planet." i said. "well, i for one can tell you know only little about this planet, being a human and all." maya said. "wait, i thought not many people knew about humans." i asked. "oh no,many people know about humans, very few know about where most have come from and also what secret powers they hold. and also on that subject, why do you need to buy supplies? can't you use your powers to manifest something convenient?" maya asked. "well you see, i'm new here and not fully used to my powers, in fact doing stunts like wielding my sword with peak strength drains me out of my energy." i said. "that makes sense, every person has their own mental strength, mental strength is the only limit to ones powers. which is the reason why many people although having omnipotent powers stick to a certain specialty of theirs so they can be able to not waste as much energy and drain themselves." maya said. she seemed to know a lot more about this than i do. i told her that and asked her "why do you know so much about us and our powers?" she answered with "you see humans have been chosen to come here since way long before we were ever born. they were allowed to come and enjoy themselves as well as to have a place to go when they had nowhere left to in their other world." Maya looked at me as if we both should know this, she had been giving me looks like she knew me since we first met. "well, i'm going to get some rest i'm tired now." i said yawning and falling asleep on the big rock next to her. the last thing i heard before waking up the next morning was "you're always like that." i woke up ready to go to the town with Maya and wix as maya joyfully got ready to go, she ran ahead of me while i shouted for wix a couple of times and by the time i looked back to the path, Maya was already 2 miles ahead of me going uphill. "come on!" she shouted as loud as she could. i used my powers to give me some speed to catch up to her and we made our way into town once again. "you're pretty good at measuring how fast you wanna go huh? not very good at controlling your speed though." maya said. "hey i can't help it. if i ran in a straight line it would be easy to stop as long as nothings in the way." i said scratching the back of my head with maya laughing. we stopped by a few markets and picked out some food for us to eat later. Wix had finally caught up to us by the time the sun had begun to set. Wix was exhausted looked ready to barf "why did you leave me behind?" Wix said with her head spinning. "do you know what kind of trouble i had to go through to get back here?" Wix asked. "sorry, i didn't think you would have so much trouble taking the path up here. it's only about 5 minutes to get back." i said confused. "wait..path? up to here? 5 minutes?" she asked. she looked as confused as i was. maya began laughing and said "you two sure do seem to get along quite nicely huh?" "no, we've only been traveling since..how long ago did i arrive here?" i looked over to wix who was still dizzy from whatever she had done to get here. "i think, maybe five..ten..i think i'm going to go to bed with my faerie friends?" Wix said slowly falling to the ground. i took out my hands and scooped her up before she hit the ground. i set her in a specially made pocket for her to rest in in my new jacket and maya and i began walking. Aito had returned to town still acting depressed from being rejected when he looked up and saw maya and i walking together he immediately began chasing after us. "wait, stop right there!" aito said running straight toward us. maya looked back and quickly said "come on, this way!" maya grabbed my hand and pulled me with her. "wait, what's going on?" i said. "he's from Crossed Lines, and they want me for something, something that could change the world." maya said looking down at the ground adding in a sad tone "and also, because of my past ties with them." "what?" i asked. maya tried dragging me down an alleyway and jumped the fence blocking the other side letting go of my hand. i was about to jump when aito caught up to us and stood blocking the only entrance. "hold it, who are you kid? human that's for sure, but why are you walking with her? report to HQ right away." aito said out of breath. "look i'm not getting involved in whatever you guys are planning, in fact i was attacked by one of your guys already and now he's stuck in jail." i said acting tough. "what? you put one of our men in jail? fine then i hate having to fight it's such a bother i'd rather just have you hand the girl over to me and i'll turn a blind eye from that statement. but it looks like you won't go down without fight." Aito said sighing. suddenly his eyes widened and narrowed "wait? you're that succubus from earlier aren't you? you put an illusion on me!" Aito said insulted. "how did you do it? i never let my guard down!" Aito asked. his hands had started twitching like he might've found something interesting. "i didn't need to do anything your mind was easy to manipulate." i said it was the honest truth i simply twisted his mind to make me appear as something he desired most, although i wasn't expecting him to have a romantic fantasy about succubi. "looks like i'll have to teach you a lesson." Aito said getting serious. suddenly two silver custom pistols formed in his hand. "these lovely's are called the hound dogs. wanna know why?" he asked. "no. not really." i said drawing my blade from my back. "a swordsman huh? didn't anyone ever tell you to never bring a sword to a gun fight?" Aito asked confidently, he was smiling now. "didn't anyone ever tell you never bring guns to a sword fight?" i said sarcastically. Aito gritted his teeth and asked "what's your name kid?" "Jack." i told him. "well Jack, prepare to die." Aito said and right after began shooting both of his guns. i reacted as soon as he started pulling the trigger blocking the bullets with my sword. i looked up and noticed there was a sound of bullets flying, but even with my heightened reflexes i couldn't see any bullets fly by. i only heard whizzing noises as i continued to block the bullets. after about 20 rounds of gunfire Aito had to stop and reload his ammo. i thought it was weird to not just make the guns reappear each time, but then i remembered my conversation last night with maya about mental strength. he probably needed to make ammo cartridges in advanced so his mind wouldn't be drained as quickly. this got me thinking of how many arrows i could shoot if i had a quiver attached when i fired my bow. i snapped back into reality and began charging at aito. Aito quickly not even looking at me sidestepped to the left of me and got around behind me. i turned back to quickly block the incoming bullets. "now then shall we continue?" aito said after getting ready to reload his third round of invisible bullets.
