In the Twist of Separation

For Now

They were a normal family, 1 boy 1 girl and two dads. Gary was away a lot more than Robbie was, Robbie puts it down to more comments like the band, shows things like that. Were as Robbie, he brings out a album then tours then is back home for the rest of the year, to be with Oscar and Taylor. Their kids are their everything but sometimes work gets in the way of family time, especially with Gary over the recent months.

"Oscar...Taylor come on" robbie sighed tiredly trying to get his children to eat their breakfast "where's Dada" Taylor asked swirling her spoon in her cereal, for the 6th time this morning, they'd only been up 25 minutes, "princess I've already told you he's working today" Robbie said gently and he knew it was affecting them that Gary wasn't around a lot at the minute but he was trying to keep everything going smoothly.

"When will be back" that's the thing with a 5 & 6 year old they question everything, every last thing and sometimes it drove Robbie absolutely mental "I don't know" Robbie brought them their orange juice then crouched down between the space that's there between their chairs "will he be back soon" oscar asked looking up at Robbie with his big brown eyes, he loves his kids he does, but they don't half do his head in with all the questions "I don't know oscar" Robbie said feeling like he was banging his head against a brick wall knowing that he's going to get the same questions ALL day. He needed to get their minds off Gary even if it's just for a hour, he thought about it as the kids started eating their food and came up with the perfect idea - take them out for a fun day at the beach "hey fancy ice cream and sand castles" Robbie smiled with a hint of hope in his mind "ICE CREAM" oscar and Taylor shouted, Robbie took that as a yes and so they finished breakfast and got ready

30 minutes later

As Robbie was getting them in the car, he heard that dreaded question that's driving him crazy "is dada coming" Taylor sweetly asked as Robbie done her seatbelt for her, he kissed her head and took a deep breathe in "not today sweetie fun day with dad" he weakly smiled getting in the drivers seat and drove off hoping his plan would work. Robbie felt his phone vibrate in his pocket and managed to wiggle it out and answer it

"Ello" he answered as her took a corner becoming closer to the beach and the kids played in the back of the car

"Hey love" his husbands voice rang down the phone "gary" Robbie said shocked, he didn't check the callers name "what the hell are you playing at...I woke up and you weren't there all I got was a note" Robbie said clearly annoyed and that was noticed by Gary "I know i know I'm sorry, I probably should've woke you up I'm sorry sweetheart. How are the kids" Gary questioned as it was heard by Robbie he was in rehearsals due to the noise in the background

"Asking for you 24 bloody 7! You're never here gaz" Robbie sighed as he pulled up at the beach, the kids itching to get out and go make sandcastles "I wish I could be there more god I do, I just got so much on Robbie. You know that" Gary explained getting upset at the fact he's missing out with Robbie and the kids "family comes first Gary! Well to me anyway" Robbie snapped and hung up the phone throwing it into the glove box and got out the car, opening the doors for oscar and Taylor as they sprinted out the car and down to the sand giggling and screaming with joy "DAD DAD" Taylor shouted back looking at Robbie, who was leaning against the car bonnet just admiring his children "ill come down soon" Robbie said back, he regretted snapping at Gary but it's getting too much he needs him at him. He hates to admit it but he's struggling he really his, juggling his job with his family life is hard enough without Gary not there.

He went back in the car to get his phone back from the glove box only to see 4 missed calls from Gary and 1 text

Look I get I'm not there much at the minute but don't get snappy with me I can't help it okay? I'm sorry but I can't do anything about it! I only called to see how you lot were doing and to tell you I'm heading up to Manchester for today and I'm staying over, is that alright or do I need your permission? G

Manchester bloody Manchester?! Who's he going to see? What's in Manchester? What's so important he can't be with his kids and husband?

I've got meetings for LIS up there and then I'm staying at a old mates, Josh's. before you ask. G

Well that answers Robbies questions to some degree, he's never heard of this josh. He doesn't like the sound of it, he trusts Gary implicitly but something is telling him something bad is going to happen. He looks up and sees his beautiful children running up to the car as the ice cream van appeared, he and his kids need ice cream. His thoughts can go to the back of his head.
