Five hours had gone by but every minute of those five hours felt like forever. The only sound that could be heard in the basement was the sound of the clock ticking. Natania and Nessa refused to talk because they were afraid that the man would find them. The dim light in the basement had gone out and all that could be seen was the glowing eyes of the lady in the painting.
Natania turned around thinking she had heard footsteps on the other side of the basement door. Nessa heard the sudden movement next to her and slowly turned to face Natania.

"What's wrong?" Nessa said clearly on edge.

"I think I just heard footsteps," Natania whispered.

Just as Natania finished speaking the door to the basement opened slowly and made a creaking sound that caught the attention of both the girls. The girls ran back to where they were the first time the man was in the basement. The man walked down the stairs with only slight creaking sounds being made from the stairs. He was grinning and as he walked from the top of the stairs to the bottom the grin never left his face. Natania came up with a plan to get out of the basement without him noticing and wasted no time in telling Nessa the plan.

"We need to get out of here. Follow me and don't make any noise," Natania told Nessa.

Natania nodded but was clearly scared. The man reached the bottom of the stairs with the grin still on his face. He walked straight to the painting of the old woman and just stood in front of it grinning. This gave Natania and Nessa time to climb up the staircase, but before they could climb the last stair Nessa stepped on a step that made a creaking noise. Natania turned to her and motioned for her to be quiet. When they got out of the basement they agreed to lock the basement door because it could only be locked from the outside.

"Where do we go now?" Nessa asked still looking at the basement door.

"Let's go to the..."

Natania was cut off by the sound of pounding on the basement door.

"You're cheating. Let me out Natania!" The man said in a calm yet angry voice.

Nessa tapped Nessa's shoulder and motioned for her to follow behind her. Natania took one last look at the door and heard the man screaming at her to open the door then followed Nessa who was almost out of sight. Nessa took her to a room that she had never seen before, took out a key and unlocked the door. There was nothing in the room except for a rocking horse that was painted brown and was slightly rocking. Natania gave Nessa a worried look but followed her into the room anyway while looking around at her surroundings and staying close to the door.

"Nessa, lock the door," Natania reminded Nessa.

Nessa locked the door and then whispered to Natania to come over to where she was. Natania did what Nessa asked her to do then Nessa pointed to something that was making a shadow on the other side of the door, but before she got to see what Nessa was pointed at, a long, skinny finger that looked like it was rotting stuck through the space between the bottom of the door and and floor. Then the man began pounding on the door and after a while of pounding on the door and threatening Natania in a demonic voice the man stopped and there was silence for a while. Just as Natania and Nessa thought the man gave up he let out a blood curdling scream that sent shivers down Natania's back. Natania thought that maybe if she didn't respond he would think that they weren't in the room and leave but she was wrong, he began hitting the door even harder and the door seemed like it was going to fall of the hinges. Natania and Nessa had locked themselves in the room and there was no way out other than the door they came in from. The rocking horse then began to rock furiously and then the man stopped knocking at the door. Natania had faced her back to the door and was looking at the rocking horse in complete confusion and fear, yet she couldn't seem to turn to Nessa and point out to her what was happening with the rocking horse. A cold hand wrapping around Natania's ankle snapped her out of her thoughts and sent chills up her back. Natania tried to shake the hand off of her ankle but the hand just tightened around her ankle and it felt as if the bone was being crushed. She bent down and scratched the hand with her long nails and tried her best to make it let go. Nessa realized what was going on and stepped on the wrist of the arm with all of her strength, and made the hand let go.

All the screaming and pounding at the door stopped and there was a silence that made Natania and Nessa uncomfortable. Nothing happened for a while but Natania and Nessa knew that they still weren't safe. Nessa started pacing the room then she stopped abruptly and made Natania help her pull the carpet off the floor. When they pulled back the carpet they found a large hole in the floor, large enough for them to fit through and they didn't hesitate going down into the hole to get away from what was going on in the room they were in and to explore the new room. The first thing they noticed in the room was that there were big freezers that couldn't hold anything else other than something sinister.

"You open one and I'll open the next one." Natania told Nessa while pushing her towards the freezer on the left side of the room.

Nessa wasn't willing to open the freezer but she still did, and allowed Natania to see what was inside first. Nessa had her eyes closed but when she heard Natania scream she opened her eyes and came face to face with a foot and a hand that both looked burnt. Nessa froze when she saw an ear and five fingers on a plate with dried blood on it.

"Why would anyone do this? I don't get it." Natania said.

"Remember the owner of the house has to make sacrifices to it," Nessa said keeping her eyes on the burnt hands and feet in the freezer.

"We need to get out of this house, I dont want to end up in one of these freezers," Natania said

"We will if we don't win this game." Nessa said holding in tears.

Natania looked at the clock and saw that seven hours had gone by. Nessa and Natania both knew that this was going to be a long seventeen hours that could either end up in death or freedom, but they weren't going to give up without a fight.
