Athena's POV

I ran as far as I could. The Packhouse was in the middle of nowhere, but I didn't stop. I've tripped and stumbled before, but I always got back onto my feet. I didn't follow the main path for people could look for me, so I continued with the forest. I heard a loud howl and then another, next thing I know, I'm surrounded by rogues. Everything was blurry since the tears were strangling there. One was gray and brown, the others were black and white. One stumbled down, then another, then two more. I was confused out of my mind. The 'leader' was about to jump me, but then he also tumbled over. I noticed a thin line of metal, an arrow, "What are you doing here Luna?" that voice was very familiar. A hooded woman walked from behind a tree and stood in front of me,

"Who are you?" I reached out to the hood and pulled it off gently, "Amber?" I hugged her and she asked,

"What are you doing here? You could've been killed!" She pulled me towards the Packhouse,

"No, no, no, no! I'm not going back! Chris, h-he's so mad at me! I'm scared," I told her everything except for the mating part,

"M-my friend from school has a house in the town. The address is 2793, 82 Ave. I won't say a word to anybody," I hugged her again, "You go, I have to stay back,"

"Thank you! Please, stay safe and stay away from the Alpha. For your own good," I said, pulling away from her embrace. She smiled and ran behind me.

- Two Hours Later

I finally made it to her friend's house, hesitantly knocking, "Who is it!" Someone yelled from inside,

"My name's Athena. I-I'm a friend of Ambers. She said you could help me," I replied. They quickly shuffled to the door and pulled me in,

"She told us you were coming. Are you alright? You look hurt," They were two girls and the house was a cute but modern home,

"I'm fine, I just need some food and water and I'll leave," I told them,

"You need rest! You look extremely tired," the other added,

"I'll be fine," I smiled and they ran off into the kitchen, grabbing some food, water, and a bag,

"Be safe!" they gave me the bag, their numbers and I left. Very short visit. I sat on a bench in the town and looked through the bag- granola bar, two bottles of water, paper with their numbers and twenty dollars. They were such sweethearts.

I sat on the bench for over five minutes, bawling my eyes out and shivering. An old lady sat beside me and rubbed my back, "Rough day, dearie?" she asked,

"You have absolutely no idea," I laughed a bit,

"What are you doing? On the run from somebody?" she questioned,

"Y-yeah. But, you don't need to bother about me, it's cold outside," I told her,

"I'm wearing a coat. You're wearing a thin sweater," she rummaged through her purse and handed me a ten dollar bill,

"Oh, I can't take this! It's yours," I implied,

"You'll need it more than I will, Luna," she smiled and put it in my hand,

"You're part of the Pack?" I asked and she laughed a tad,

"I was there from the beginning," I hugged her,

"Please don't tell the Alpha," I whispered,

"He always has been bad with his temper," she told me, "Now, go to the hotel across the street, and stay warm," she rubbed my arm and I smiled,

"Thank you. I appreciate it," I told her before walking inside. The heated air flushed against my skin, warming me up,

"Hello, Miss. Do you need anything?" the man asked,

"No-uh. Just a place to warm up," I replied. I sat on the chair, thinking. Chris was the only person to ever show affection or kindness to me, and I blew it. I ruined it, I ruined us. I wanted that night to happen, but he didn't believe me. My heart can't take this, it's being broken in so many ways. I walk out, enveloping in the cold winter snow, and ran into an alley. Sliding against the fence, I pull out a blade that I hid in my boot and followed the beat of the broken flow in blood. I tore the sweater off, not wanting to get blood on it, and shivered as I waited for the blood to dry. Then I went again, and again, letting the blood pour out of my veins. The snow around me was covered in my blood, yet I was dry. I cut for every time he called me 'baby'  For everytime my lips tingled, asking for more. For every time I spilled my life into him. Surely he could do better than me, he's probably sitting in his office with hookers, celebrating my parish. I'm never going to be good enough, not in infinite years. I will always be me, a worthless, stupid, ugly, anorexic whore. I deserve this. Maybe, if I wasn't born, my mother would still be here and my family would be happier. Everything slowly faded out, and I couldn't feel anything. I heard my name in the distance.

Chris' POV

I almost finished the entire shelf of liquor before I realized the reality. First, I get mad at her and don't listen, then I push her and hurt her, now she's gone. I growled once more and stomped downstairs, wobbling from the alcohol, "Gather the men. We're finding her," I told the guard chief, Alexander,

"But, Alpha, you said we weren't going-"

"Now!" I hurried outside and hopped in a car, "We're going,"

-

We drove to the town as some men went through the forest. She wasn't in Pack territory, I couldn't smell her anymore. She felt, absent. Like she was never there. We stopped at the town's hotel and I ran in, "Excuse me, have you seen a woman. Brown hair, brown eyes, thin, about this tall," I raised my hand to where she normally stands on me, wishing she was really here,

"A woman left about ten minutes ago, she just sat there and cried," the man informed us. I walked out and started to call for her,

"Athena! Baby!" I yelled at the top of my lungs, "Please come back!" I slammed my fists into the freshly coated snow and growled. Now I was angry.
