"Happy birthday!"
I walked into the Hamilton's living room, along with my family. Alexander and father shook hands and said how good it was to see one another.
I introduced my mother and sister to Eliza, who smiled and introduced them to their other children. I greeted Phillip with a kiss on the cheek and handed him the small box I was holding. He grinned and put it with the others.
"Hi Angie!"
"Rose!" She ran at me and hugged me and I laughed, Phillip tousling her hair. I greeted his other siblings with guys and smiles, including little Eliza who was still toddling around. She gurgled with happiness as I picked her up and tickled her chin.Phillip was stood by me and whispered into my ear:
" you're good with children. How about we make some on our wedding night?"
"Phillip!" I smacked his arm and laughed. We sat in the drawing room sipping cups of tea and slices of cake. We were eventually ushered into the dining room where me and Phillip sat near the head of the table rather then the middle where I was normally sat.
We had parsnip soup to start, and then a mint sorbet. We then had a large beef roast with all the trimmings. I had a reliably large ports in and Alexander chuckled at it. Mostly he was deep in conversation with father, occasionally bursting out with laughter.
We had a large cake with white icing and candles for pudding then Phillip blew them all out.
"What did you wish for?" I asked.
"If I say it won't come true! Just know it has something to do with you."
I smiled and we ate the soft cake filled with jam and butter cream. We the retreated back into the drawing room and talk for a while but then eventually joined in the party games with the children. When we played pin the tail on the donkey he put the tail I between the donkeys legs making me and John snicker.
"What? I just got it wrong!"
"Phillip we're not stupid you did it on purpose!" John rolled his eyes at me."Come with me Rose I want to open your present."
Phillip grabbed my present of the table and we snuck into the sitting room. He tore at the blue paper revealing a black box. He smiled and lifted the lid off. There were two peacock feather quills with a glass pot of black ink."Oh Rose you know me so well! They are beautiful! Thank you!" He hugged me and we rushed upstairs and he put them in his desk, next to piles of papers, filled with writing and scribbles.
"Oh I have something for you!" He rummaged in his desk looking amongst the paper.
"It's in here somewhere I swear... Oh- found it! Here you go!" He handed me a sheet of paper with his familiar handwriting on it.
"Read it. Go on."
