Ava Lee was squealing a string of profanities while rewatching her most beloved anime in the whole universe. With her short wavy blackish-brown hair tied up into a messy bun and glasses askew on her face, Ava looked like a tall maniac that just came out of a mad-science experiment. The look on her face didn't help.
Just like any other irresponsible university student escaping reality, Ava - currently getting ready for medical school, was doing something completely unrelated to the test she constantly told herself to prepare for. Yes, she had a test the next morning, and yes she was screwed, but yes she is trying to escape reality. At least trying, until she fell asleep.
A Few Hours Later
"KYAAAAA!!!!! FUCK ME!!!!!! I'm LATE. Oh Gosh, Hahahahaha I'm hahaha FML."
Okay, calm down...nope nope NOPE. Okay, 7:40 am and my class starts at 8 am. Haha yep, I'm screwed. LOL okay, do I regret watching anime? Nope, but should I? Yes. Where the hell are my pants?!
Frantically trying to make herself look presentable, at least for her miserable classmates, Ava quickly put on her hat in order to protect her ghastly face and ran out the door. Outside where the sun shone bright, the city of New York was bustling with cars and people ready for another refreshing day.
Well except for Ava of course.
She ran.

10 Minutes Later
Reaching the last walkway, Ava impatiently waited for the traffic light to turn red and let her pass.
7:55. New Record Yay. I can do this. I will fail my test, but I refuse to be late for it. Come on, come on, come on, come on, COME THE FUCKING ON!
Immediately, she bolted forward the moment the traffic light turned red. In that instant, out of the edge of her sight, Ava saw a huge truck ignoring the red, and come racing toward the walkway, approximately 1 foot in front of where she was. Also, on the same spot the huge truck was heading, was a young girl. A peculiar child not much younger than Ava, at most a high school junior, frozen on the pathway.
Oh no. Move girl! MOVE! You're going to get run over!

What am I going to do? She's going to die! What can I do?

Her feet left the ground, exerting what little force and speed she could manage to reach the needed distance. Her hands felt the girl's back, and she pushed. And Ava turned her head to face what would hurt like a bitch.
