It was dreadfully quiet in the manor, even to Arno's taste. Usually a band would be heard down in the cafe and was audible all the way into his chambers, but it was so silent and dreary that it made the Assassins finally stand from his desk and decide to talk a walk. He had been sitting for hours, writing letters of importance and documents about his missions, busier than normal, so it was hard for him to get any moments rest.

And you understood why his work must come first; the balance between good and evil weighed on his shoulders, and it was eating away at him like a vulture to a corpse. He needed a break, and the silence pulled him away from his work. He found himself admiring the work just in the hall outside his room.

Paintings of landscapes, animals, portraits were displayed on the beautifully decorated and painted walls, making everything around Arno more lively. It was refreshing to see after looking at paper for so many hours; he breathed sharply and smiled. His eyes glittered when they saw his favorite piece; a portrait of you, hanging in the center of the room for all to see when they take that final step to go upstairs. The smile you wore on your face widened his even more, and his chest and face were warm.

Although the thoughts of him not spending any time with you lately had entered his mind then, and soon he began to feel so guilty and very neglecting. Perhaps some time with you would brighten his mood, as it always does. Thing was; where were you? Arno began down the steps.

Once he reached the last step and landed on the main floor, his ears picked up something that instantly got his attention.

Arno hadn't heard this familiar little tune in quite a while, that little melody you played to yourself whenever you were in your own little world. It peaked his curiosity, and soon he was making his way to you, wherever you were in the manor. The tune carried his feet down to the main floor, where your sweet voice became more louder and more graceful; a smile crept onto his face the closer he neared.

The assassin reached the corner of the kitchen, eyes glittering at the sight of you standing in front of the kitchen stove while you sang your song. He leaned his body on the door frame and crossed his hands, continuing to listen to you.

This was so much better than paperwork.

You were oblivious to the man, continuing to sing your melody. No one else was in the kitchen, so you took the advantage of putting on a little show to keep yourself entertained from boredom.

"It's very beautiful." Arno finally said, and you of course jumped out of your skins, dropping the spatula you were holding.

"Mon dieu!" (My God!) you yelp. He chuckles playfully and walks calm over to you. "Must you frighten me!?"

"I certainly got a kick out of it." Arno laughs again, getting a punch to his arm. You turn back to your food on the stove.

Arno caught eye of the food you were preparing. An omelette and some bacon, even the tea kettle was singing. It smelled delicious; he had always loved your cooking.

"How long were you watching me?" you ask as you feel a pair of hands slip around your waist. They then wrapped themselves around your front. He rests his chin on your shoulder.

"Long enough for your singing to brighten my day. You never sing around me."

"Because you can never keep that mouth of yours shut long enough to hear me!"
