The years that followed Amy's last letter were slow; every second that passed left her more tormented than the last; every day that ended left her more empty than the last. She was young and barely a child. So how was she supposed to cope and grief without the guidance of her mother or father? How was she supposed to fathom the loss of her best friend as well as the loss of human connection?

She was isolated, but in that isolation, she soon grew an understanding of the world: Life isn't perfect, and yes, life isn't fair. But after facing death, loneliness, and unhappiness all too soon, she realized that there is only one way out: to start living again and to have hope. Because without it, she couldn't have found herself again.

Her dad never returned, but his love for Amy never wavered. Her mom finally came to her senses and after so much time spent crying and wasting away, she learned to push back her own unhappiness in order to be there for her daughter. Kyle never came back, but deep in her heart, Amy knew that there was no way around it; Kyle was dead and in reality, the dead never rise up again. But despite this, Amy refused to let Kyle's memory die. She'll always remember him. After all, they were best friends and true friends never forget about each other, no matter the circumstances.
