Amara was born into struggle with both her parents being part of Sankru. When she was around fifteen years old, she left her family's small village and traveled to Polis where she was trained as a warrior's second. Upon reaching the age of eighteen, she left Polis and traveled back to the dead zone where she discovered her parents had left in search of the famed City of Light. Amara runs into Jaha and his group who are searching for the same city and she joins their group despite not believing in fairytales.
Amara clashes with John Murphy from the moment she lays eyes on him. However, he becomes entranced with her strength and beauty. But in a land that is stricken with war and struggle, is love really something they want?
