Eleanora (Nora) Banes life was always abnormal, although she knew that living with two warlocks wasn't exactly what people called the 'standard' mundane life. And she wasn't even that – a mundane, well not entirely. There was something else in her blood that allowed her to see through the glamours of the world and see the true forms of things that – to a mundane – would only be acknowledged as 'the thing one can't quite see', 'the thing at the corners of one's proverbial vision', 'the thing that isn't important enough to attempt in remembering'.

And Nora saw to it that she understood the world she was in, with the help of her guardian Magnus Bane and 'adoptive' brother Nathaniel Bane she learned how to be what her ancestors were, what ran through her blood for generations upon generations – a Shadowhunter.
