Luna Eclipse

🌕Chapter Two🌕

My wolf wants to follow him but I stand my ground digging my paws into the dirt. Out of all the people who could be my mate it had to be him! I don't get it, why is he walking away from me? The pain in my abdomen grows as he walks further and further away. Shouldn't it be just as physically painful for him as it is for me?

"Esme?" Nico says behind me. Ignoring him I hide behind a hut changing back and putting clothes on. I sigh in relief when I hear his heavy footsteps fade away.

I hear Nico and Uriah fighting. "What was the point in coming here if they weren't going to do anything about it. Were they just trying to scare us?"

"It doesn't matter Uriah they're gone now" nico says in a bored tone. 

"No it does matter, do you realise how this looks like to the pack, we now look weak. You know the circumstances, what if they take advantage?

"It'll be fine, relax. Look, this rivalry is stupid anyways, I say we make a truce, its been long overdue"

"It isn't going to that easy son I've tried but this pack can't be reasoned with. I'm sure you'll be a wise alpha but I don't think that this is the right solution" my dad says smiling. Me and Uriah roll our eyes in unison. "Are you feeling okay Esme you look pale?"

"I'm okay. Nico can I talk to you, privately" I ask ignoring Uriah's curious glance.

"Of course" he replies. We walk to our house and I pull Nico up to my room. "What's up little sis?"

"I think I found my mate?" I say, without making eye contact. Nico's eyebrows shoot up. "He's in the other pack"

"Okay?" He questions.

"Does this mean I have to move into their pack because I don't want to leave you" I say panicking. Will they except me if I'm from a different pack, I know it happens all the time but the history of our packs show that this has never happened. I'm guessing it's properly since we're rivals. Do I even want to be with this stranger? Why do I feel like I need him?

"Of course you don't. They can come into our pack, well I mean he would need permission from the alpha of course"

"Well that's the thing. He's the Alpha" I whisper.

"Um what" he says surprised. I put my head in my hands and start crying. What am I supposed to do? Nico hugs me rubbing my back. "Shhh it's okay. We can work something out" he sooths.

"How? He's the alpha of our rival pack! I can't choose between the pack and him. What happens if the packs start a fight Nico, who am I supposed to protect?"

"We won't be rivals for long Esme. I'll make sure when I'm alpha we become allies"

"Dad has tried but the packs hate each other. There will never be peace how can they become allies" I mumble. The whole pack is gonna flip when they realise who my mate is.

"Maybe there will be, the pack loves you Esme maybe you can bring the packs together" Nico says. "You should tell dad. You know how much of a peace maker he is" he chuckles making me smile. "Come on" he slings an arm around my shoulder and walks me to the living room where my father and brother stand arguing about how Uriah disobeyed dads orders about going into the forbidden territory.

"Dad. I need to tell you something" I tell him keeping my voice steady.

"Go ahead honey" he says.

"I found my mate" I say. His eyebrows shoot up in surprise and he hugs me tightly.

"Who's the unlucky guy?" Uriah smirks before giving me a hug as well.

"I'm so proud of you honey. We need to celebrate, your mum is going to get so excited" he smiles

"Dad you don't understand he's not from this pack" I say shaking me head.

"Esme it's fine we always welcome other wolves into this pack, that's how it went for your mum" dad says confused by my weird behaviour. "Same goes for rouges" he adds hesitantly when I don't answer. I mentally laugh at the thought, a royal marrying a rouge, the pack would properly disown me.

"He's from the rival pack dad" Nico says for me. My dad sighs and rubs his forehead.

"I don't know what to say Esme" he says weakly. He hates disappointing us. "Maybe we can work something out with the pack, we will just have to hope that his alpha approves of this relationship"

"He is the Alpha" I mutter. Uriah widens his eyes and looks at me to dad and to me again. If he keeps doing that I'm going to slap him.

"My little sister is going to be a Luna!" Uriah yells before giving me another hug. Fuck I forgot about that.

"Dad I'm not ready to be a Luna!" I say panicking.

"Esme your perfectly capable of being a Luna! You have been training your whole life to lead"

"I've trained for third in command dad they are completely different" I grumble. I walk back to my room wanting to be alone. What would have happened if we didn't cross into their territory? Would I have even met Adrian and why didn't he talk to me. I sigh and jump on my bed rubbing my temples. How am I going to see him again, does he even want to see me. All the thoughts and scenarios make me tired so I fall asleep.

I wake up in the middle of the night fully awake. I frown when I feel a tug at my stomach again. I get up and look across the house and find nothing unusual. It's when I'm outside that I can smell an unfamiliar scent. Knowing better then to go look by myself I wake Uriah. "Argh what do you want" he grumbles digging his head further into the pillow.

"Somethings not right. Please, just come with me" I plead giving my best puppy dog eyes.

"Fine" he sighs getting up. I smile and run back outside hoping not to lose the scent. Uriah transforms behind me, he's a shade darker then me. 'I smell wolf, nothing unusual since a whole pack lives here' he barks.

"Oh shut up" I say before transforming into a wolf. The scent becomes stronger and I sprint in it's direction not wanting to lose it. 'Try to keep up' I smirk. Surprisingly Uriah's right behind me hot on my heels.

We run for about ten minutes before stopping at the opening of a cave. 'Do you smell that?'

'Blood' I was so concentrated on the other scent that I didn't smell the blood. It was definitely coming from the cave.

'And a human' he says giving me a worried look. 'I'm going in first watch my back' he walks in and I have no choice but to follow.
