"No mami, ano kasi--" I was instantly cut off, again, by my mami's lecture.

"Di ba sinabi ko naman sa'yo na wag na wag kang aalis pag di kasama si Flam o si Holi man lang. Hesus kong bata ka! Ang tigas-tigas talaga ng ulo mo!" I put the phone away from my ear, still hearing mami's rants.

I look back at where I left him. He's still inside the cafe, patiently waiting. My heart warmed at the idea.

As if sensing my gaze, he turned to look at me and smiled. My heart just melted. Oh fuck. Too cheesy.

"ANO NA? Siguro nimute mo ito noh! At saan mo naman natutunan yan ANNEX ROSAMUND?!" My mami's booming voice boomed through the line.

"Hindi po 'mi---"

"At talagang sumasagot ka pa ha? Umuwi ka na ngayon din! Kapag wala ka pa dito alas sais ng gabi, GROUNDED KA. NANAMAN."

The line went dead. I looked at the phone mortified. Kalma. Kalma Anne.

Bumalik ako sa loob ng Cold Coffees.

"Is something wrong?" He asks.

Umiling ako sakanya. "I need to go back." I smiled apologetically at him.

"I understand. Let's go?" He offered me his hand. And who am I to neglect his sweet gesture?

Dali-dali akong naglakad patungong mansion. Oh my gosh, from the looks of the guards in the front gates? I'm sure mami is screaming bloody murder.

The maids greeted me with worry and fear.

"Miss, kanina pa po kayo hinahanap ni Madame." Manang Ofelia said. I smiled at her and went directly up her room.

I suck in air before I knock on her wooden door.

"Umalis nga kayo dito Ofelia! Ayaw kong kumain! Gusto ko yung anak ko!" Sigaw niya.

My heart rammed harder inside my chest. Damn it.

I slowly turn the knob and gently push the door open when I confirmed it wasn't locked.

"Mami..." Maamo kong tawag dito.

Napatingin ito sa akin.

"Where have you been, young lady?" She calmly ask. My eyes widen in horror. Oh shoot. Galit siya. I swear galit siya.

What to do, was the mantra inside my head.

"I went out with Flam and Holi 'mi." I lied. Well, partially.

She took a menacing step towards me, hands cross over her chest.

"Don't you dare lie straight to my face Annex Rosamund." There's warning in her voice.

Nag-iwas ako ng tingin kay mami. When I didn't respond, mami starts talking again.

"I saw your friends, Flam and Holi, you are not with them Annex." I gulped. Where could have she had seen them?

Where is Flam's favorite hang out. Think quickly Anne.

"I was at the comfort room 'mi." I lied. Again.

Tinaasan ako ng kilay ni mami. Doubting who will she believe: her intuition or my alibi. I hope it's the latter though.

"I won't press on." Sabi ni mami pagkatapos ng ilang minutong katahimikan. Napatingin ako sa kanya.

Really? She will forgive me that easily? Oh, the joy!

"But," my shoulders drop at the word, "Give me your car keys." Bummer.
