A Slow Walk in the Winter Rain

Simple and resigned
Dignity at
The falling flecks
Of fate
As clothes
And rags
And bones
Are soaked
With satisfying chill

Simple as the stars
That arc high above
Planing slowly across
The night sky
Controlled by some stellar carpenter

This too was that
Simple and magnificent
Warm and cold
In the knowledge
Of the rain fall
