I was about to head downstairs to see if my dinner was reading when there was a knock on my door.
"Come in," I said and threw myself onto my bed.
"Some of your moms friends are over for dinner and she wants you to wear something nice," My dad said.
"So basically dress to impress," I stated and he nodded. I sighed once he left my room.

I rummaged through my closet to see if there was anything that would make me look visually appealing to my step-mom. Once I found what I was looking for I changed and walked down the stairs.
"Oh my," One of her friends gushed.
"Is this your daughter?"
"Step daughter," She corrected. I rolled my eyes.

She stole my line. The dinner went on...it went on.

It wasn't bad. But it wasn't great either.

She's finally proud of me but I bet when her friends leave it'll be like nothing's changed. I was right.

As soon as her friends stepped out the door she turned around and barked orders at me.
"Clean the table"
"Wash the dishes"
"Put Bobby and Mathew to bed" while she does what? Nothing.

What kind of step mother is she. I'll tell you what kind of stepmother she is.

She's the evil kind. Even worse...she's an even worse mom.

I cleared the table and finished washing the dishes then headed upstairs to but Bobby and Mathew to sleep.
"Annie...why don't you and mom get along?," Bobby asked once I tugged both of them in.
"Cause that's just the way it is," I responded.
"But it doesn't have to be...right?," Mathew asked. I nodded.
"Then why is it?," Bobby asked.
"Look...you two are young. You're just kids. You need to look up to your mom. When you're older you'll understand," I answered. Mathew seemed to take the hint and stoped his brother from asking any questions.
"Good night, Annie," Mathew called as I stood up.
"Good night, Mathew. Good night, Bobby," I said and turned my attention to Bobby.
"Good night, Annie" and with that I walked into my room and flopped on my bed. I closed my eyes almost falling into a deep sleep when there was a buzz beside me.

I opened my eyes hesitantly and realized it was my phone indicating I had a new text message. I lifted my phone up to see it was Percy.
P: Good night, Wise Girl I smiled and typed a reply,
A: Sweet dreams, Seaweed brain
