Colors of the Sky - A Poem About the Marvelous Sunset

I enter my room

Sad and solemn

For there was still daylight out

And I had to go to bed

I turn on the lamp and see

A soft

Yet bright

Glow

Coming behind the blinds

I dash to the window

I lift the shield of blinds

I let out a gasp

As I stare in wonder

At the sunset

I see the colors of the sky

Emerging behind that house

The colors of the sky

Painted clouds

With shadows of color

Red, oranges, yellows

I am lifted

I smile

As I grab a pencil and my book

And scribble these words

As the sky turns black

Only the sound of the scribble left

It fills the air

And the emptiness soon fills me again
