Elliot Stabler has always been a family man. He loves his wife of 25 years, Kathy. He's also devoted to helping his five kids with whatever they need no matter what it involves. But there has always been one thing he loves almost as much, but won't admit, and that's his job. He couldn't see himself doing anything else. Being a detective for Manhattans Special Victims Unit is all he's ever wanted. Stabler loves putting away the scum of the earth. He lives for it, most of the time he even puts it ahead of his family.
Stabler works with his partner, of 12 years, Olivia Benson. The two of them together have a 97 percent case-closure rate, first grade detectives. The two have never been anything more than partners/friends. Never sharing more than a friendly kiss hello or hug goodbye. Even though everyone has always suspected that they have linked up sometime in the past, it's never been. He's a devoted, loving, caring... Family man.
