Soooo sorry guys - this should have been posted as the last part of 30.5.  I'm six chapters ahead of all of this and sometimes I do forget things:

“I love you,” Drake tells me, “Thank you.”

“You’re welcome,” I peck his lips and let him slide out, “And thank you.”

He falls to his back and pulls me up to him to snuggle in the crook of his arm.  He kisses the top of my head and holds his hand over my own.  Over his still-thumping heart.

“Drake?” I ask.

“Hmm?”

“If you had a choice, would you give up being an incubus?”

He sighs, “I like the perks, Claire.  I know that sounds selfish, and it probably is.  But I like being able to port and being able to shift and knowing that I’ll never get sick and never die.”

“But?”

“But I already told you, I don’t like having to feed.  I don’t like turning people’s souls.”

“So, if you could keep the perks without the need, you would?”

“But that’s not the way it works, Claire,” he rubs my hand, “So it’s a moot point.”

“But – hypothetically – if you could, would you?”

“Yes,” he sighs again, “I don’t see the point of this conversation, but yes, Claire, if I could keep the perks and give up being an agent of evil, I would.  Of course I would.”

“Ok,” I smile and close my eyes, “Goodnight, Drake.”
